Notes when using fast charging for smartphones

Experts recommend that fast charging users pay attention to the type of charger, charging cable, usage habits and charging environment to ensure charging speed and protect battery life.

The time it takes to fully charge a phone depends on many factors, such as battery capacity, charger power, and whether you use the phone while charging. With a standard 5W charger, most phones today need about 2-3 hours to fully charge. Meanwhile, fast charging technology allows for a significant reduction in time, with the ability to charge up to 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes if using an 18W or higher charger.

Not only does fast charging technology save time, but the user's habits and usage also determine the efficiency of battery charging. To charge the phone safely, quickly and more durably, you should note some important principles below:

Use quality charging accessories

Users should prioritize genuine chargers and cables or those certified by the manufacturer. Using poor quality accessories not only slows down the charging speed but also poses a potential safety risk to the device. With modern smartphones, chargers of 18-20W or higher will significantly shorten charging time.

Optimize usage mode while charging

To speed up the charging process, you can turn on airplane mode or battery saving mode. At the same time, turn off background apps and automatic syncing to limit unwanted power consumption and focus the current on the battery.

Pay attention to the environment when charging

High temperatures are the battery's biggest enemy. So when charging, place your phone in a cool place, away from heat-retaining surfaces like beds or sofas. If you use a thick or heat-retaining case, remove it to limit overheating.

Limit phone use while charging

The habit of using the device while charging, especially when playing games or watching videos , will cause the device to consume more power, slow down the charging speed and generate more heat. If you want the fastest charging, turn it off completely while charging.

Avoid charging via laptop or car USB port

Charging directly from a wall outlet is always the best option. In contrast, charging via a laptop or car USB port usually only provides very low current (around 5W), resulting in slow and inefficient charging speeds.

Update software regularly

New iOS and Android updates often come with battery management and charging optimization features, so users should update their software regularly to take advantage of these improvements, which will help keep charging safe and extend battery life.
