Prohibited items in carry-on and checked baggage

Prohibited items in carry-on and checked baggage are items that are dangerous, harmful or may cause harm to people, property and flight crew. Prohibited items include:

• Explosives and explosives-containing articles.
• Flammable substances in gas, liquid or solid form.
• Oxidizing agents, organic peroxides and related articles.
• Corrosive, infectious, toxic substances and related articles.
• Radioactive materials, magnetic materials.
• Compressed gases, flammable substances.
• Organic detergents.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines does not transport certain items due to weight, size or characteristics.

Items prohibited in carry-on baggage but allowed in checked baggage

The list of items prohibited in carry-on baggage but allowed in checked baggage includes:

• Sharp objects, weapons or items that resemble real weapons such as knives, swords, utility knives, darts, scissors, axes, etc.
• Firearms, ammunition, parts of guns, ammunition, electric guns, stun guns, toy guns or items/toys that resemble real weapons and items with similar shapes. However, to check in these items, passengers need a permit from the competent authority.
• Tools, implements, objects that can cause injury such as crowbars, hoes, drills/drill bits, blow torches, tools with blades longer than 6cm, hammers, wrenches, pliers longer than 10cm, etc.
• Bats (baseball, billiards), hockey sticks, golf clubs, martial arts equipment, batons, self-defense sprays (pepper spray), etc.

Items not to be consigned

Valuable items such as money, jewelry, cameras, camcorders, personal computers, mobile phones, etc. should be carried in carry-on luggage and should not be checked in to avoid damage or loss of items. In particular, removable Lithium battery devices and power banks are only accepted for transport in carry-on luggage (not checked in).
