Now, facing the inevitable requirements of the process of streamlining the apparatus, Ha Giang Newspaper is ready to accept a new historical mission, closing its own journey to join the common flow, in a larger, stronger, more modern and professional administrative - communication space.

From pioneering to digital bravery

On April 13, 1964, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution 11 on upgrading the Ha Giang News to Ha Giang Newspaper, marking an important turning point in propaganda work, affirming the role of revolutionary journalism on the ideological and cultural front. Since then, April 13 has become a historical milestone in the founding and launching of the first issue of Ha Giang Newspaper.

If in 1964, under difficult conditions, the Editorial Board only published 4 issues/month with a modest circulation of 700 copies/issue, now, Ha Giang Newspaper regularly publishes 5 issues/week with a circulation of up to more than 9,000 copies/issue. In particular, in 2020, Ha Giang Newspaper invested in color printing on pages 1 and 4, creating a more impressive new look instead of 2 colors black and white as before. Along with the development in quantity, Ha Giang Newspaper constantly improves the quality of content, professional presentation, clear identity, affirming its position as an official information channel, a trusted forum of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the province.

Ha Giang is a place where 19 ethnic groups live together, of which ethnic minorities account for 87.7% of the province's population. This diversity creates a unique cultural treasure but also poses special requirements for communication work. Deeply aware of that, Ha Giang Newspaper has published an additional publication, Ha Giang Cuc Bac Newspaper - periodically published 1 issue/month, targeting people in remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged areas. Although only 4 pages, Ha Giang Cuc Bac Newspaper is carefully invested in both content and form: eye-catching color printing, few words - many photos, simple, easy-to-understand language, full of humanity. This is not only an information publication but also a bridge connecting the government and the people, spreading the Party's policies and the breath of life to every remote village or border area.

In 2021, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, many specialized departments such as Secretary - Publishing, Reporters had to temporarily distance themselves because more than half of their members were sick. In this challenging context, Ha Giang Newspaper demonstrated its strong adaptability by effectively operating the e-Newsroom model in a convergent direction, based on a modern technology platform. If the traditional newsroom model were still maintained, the information flow could very well be interrupted by physical barriers during the period of social distancing. But thanks to the "shared working window" of the e-Newsroom, all distances were erased when reporters, editors and leaders of the Newsroom could exchange, debate, approve news, and edit articles instantly. The information publishing process still took place regularly, accurately, and promptly in the midst of the pandemic.

Along with the development of printed newspapers, in 2007, the Ha Giang Newspaper's electronic information page was officially launched at www.baohagiang.vn, marking a strong transformation in the digital space. This is not only keeping up with the modern media trend but also opening the door to promote the image, culture and people of Ha Giang to domestic and international friends.

Since being officially licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications to operate as an e-newspaper (November 8, 2019), Ha Giang Newspaper has constantly innovated its content and form to reach readers more effectively. The friendly interface on smart mobile devices helps spread information quickly, especially to young people - the main force in cyberspace. In particular, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper has also invested in synchronous technical infrastructure such as flycam, camera, modern studio, serving the production of online radio and television programs professionally. Not stopping there, Ha Giang Electronic Newspaper has also proactively applied multimedia journalism such as: Emagazine, Infographic, Story, integrating video, audio and AI technology to read newspapers, bringing a vivid and attractive experience to readers.

Following the above results, in 2024, the English version of Ha Giang Newspaper will be launched to readers, affirming a strategic step in integration, expanding influence and elevating Ha Giang's brand on the national and international map. A strong presence on the digital platform not only helps Ha Giang Newspaper fulfill its political tasks well, spreading positive information but also clearly demonstrates the role of a trusted voice of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the northernmost part of the country.

Professional, brave, humane

From the first printed newspaper publication to today's digital news is a journey of crystallization of the passion, intelligence, courage, and silent sacrifice of many generations of journalists in the northernmost part of the country. Each work not only reflects the breath of the times but also carries within it the mission of orienting public opinion, spreading positive values, and fostering trust among the people.

2013 marked a bright milestone when Ha Giang Newspaper won the National Press Award for the first time, conducted by journalist Dang Quang Vuong - then Deputy Editor-in-Chief. However, it was not until nearly a decade later that Ha Giang Newspaper truly broke through, making a strong mark on the national press map with a series of outstanding achievements, consecutively winning 9 prestigious national awards in less than 4 years (2022 - 2025 period), including: 1 Golden Hammer and Sickle C Prize; C and Encouragement Prizes of Dien Hong Prize; B Prize for Gender Equality; Encouragement Prize of National Press Award and 4 other important awards in the fields of: Traffic - Transportation; Youth Union activities, youth and children's movements; "Studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh". These are not only awards but also evidence of the remarkable growth in journalistic thinking, professional qualities and tireless dedication of the team of journalists at the Fatherland's frontier.

Not only fulfilling its mission of information and propaganda, Ha Giang Newspaper has also become a loving support for the less fortunate. As a "humanitarian bridge", each year, Ha Giang Newspaper has connected and mobilized billions of VND from the community to support hundreds of poor households and students in difficult circumstances in remote areas, ethnic minority areas and border areas. From the information in the newspaper, more and more organizations, individuals and businesses inside and outside the province are willing to share and accompany the northernmost land. From here, many shelters have been built, many lives have been given hope, all starting from the responsible connection of journalists. It is the tireless commitment to social activities that has created the unique identity of Ha Giang Newspaper - a newspaper that not only reports but also inspires, not only reflects reality but also nurtures humanity. That “soft” brand is increasingly imprinted in the hearts of readers, especially those in disadvantaged areas – where a voice of understanding and a helping hand are always needed.

With its positive and comprehensive contributions on both the information and propaganda front, team building and social responsibility, Ha Giang Newspaper was honored to receive many noble awards such as: First Class Labor Medal from the President, Emulation Flag from the Government, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister or the Banner "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary, innovative, intelligent, dedicated and visionary journalism, excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party" from the Provincial Party Committee...

Convergence to spread, continue the mission

In April 2025, Ha Giang Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station officially merged into Ha Giang Newspaper, operating under a multimedia model, integrating print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio and television and digital content. The organizational structure after the merger was streamlined to 1 Editorial Board and 9 specialized departments. The merger not only helped reduce 1 public service unit under the province, streamline 7 department-level focal points (reaching a rate of 43.75%), but also opened up space for innovation and creativity in the organization and operation of a modern, professional press agency, meeting communication requirements in the digital age.

In particular, July 1, 2025 marked a historical turning point, the (new) Tuyen Quang province was formed on the basis of merging the two provinces of Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang and officially put into operation. Along with this important event, Ha Giang Newspaper officially closed the journey of 61 years of construction, growth and dedication, to merge with Tuyen Quang Provincial Newspaper and Radio - Television Station to form a new agency, opening a modern media institution, inheriting the quintessence of revolutionary journalism of the two provinces.

We are proud to have contributed to the glorious journey of Ha Giang journalism; responsible for continuing to preserve and promote those values ​​in a new, more modern, professional and integrated form than ever before. The merger is not the end but a necessary transition, an integration to spread the good values ​​that Ha Giang Newspaper has worked hard to cultivate over the past 60 years.”

From the simple lines on printed publications to the multimedia interface spreading across digital space, Ha Giang Newspaper has completed a glorious journey, leaving behind precious values ​​of professional courage, social responsibility and tireless dedication. Ha Giang Newspaper will forever be a source of pride in the historical flow of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, with its political mission fulfilled with full meaning and heart.
