According to Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, bringing all the national treasures currently in Ho Chi Minh City to the public is a major cultural event. "This is a bridge between the past, present and future, a great effort by museum workers, to help the public better understand the value of national cultural heritage, contributing to spreading awareness of protecting, preserving and promoting the values of Vietnamese cultural heritage," he said.
THOUSAND YEAR OLD BUDDHA STATUES
The highlight of the exhibition is the national treasure Dong Duong Buddha statue, found by French archaeologist Henri Parmentier in 1911 in Quang Nam , dating back to around the 8th - 9th century. The statue is made of bronze, standing on a stylized lotus pedestal, and is depicted according to the noble features of Buddhist iconography: on the top of the head is a high protruding meat protuberance representing transcendent wisdom, spiral hair, long earlobes, a round, benevolent face; a circle is carved in the middle of the forehead, curved eyebrows, a thin nose; a high neck with three folds; the body is wearing a monk's robe, the right shoulder is exposed, both arms are extended forward, the right hand is in the Dharma-preaching mudra, the left hand holds the flap of the robe. The statue is considered one of the oldest and most beautiful statues in Southeast Asia, representing the sophisticated bronze casting technique and impressive plastic art of the Champa culture.

Next to it is the Loi My Buddha statue which has been displayed in many famous museums around the world . The statue is carved from Mu U wood, depicting the Buddha standing upright on a lotus pedestal, representing the art of Southeast Asian Buddhist sculpture and Oc Eo culture (1st - 7th century), and has been preserved relatively intact to this day.
Next to it is the Binh Hoa Buddha statue (made of Lagerstroemia wood), a typical product of the Oc Eo cultural art in the Mekong Delta; the Son Tho Buddha statue is carved from sandstone, belonging to the Oc Eo culture of the Phu Nam kingdom.

POT TREASURE
Dong Son culture ceramic pot (collected by actor Pham Gia Chi Bao) was found in Dong Tien commune, Dong Son district (Thanh Hoa) in the Ma river basin. This is the 7th pot of Dong Son culture that archaeologists have discovered in Vietnam, the most intact, largest with a balanced, sturdy shape and the first Dong Son ceramic pot to be recognized as a national treasure in December 2024.

The steamer is used to cook food with steam, consisting of 2 floors. In terms of aesthetics, the outside of the steamer is decorated with a combination of beaten rope and smooth lacquer. This decoration style, in addition to being beautiful, also supports the shaping technique to make the product strong, sturdy, resistant to force, less prone to cracking when fired and retains heat evenly when used. The original artifact is unique and original, with high practical value in the period when the Hung Kings built the country.
The exhibition of national treasures - heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City (from June 29 to August 10) introduces 17 treasures including: Ceramic pot - about 2,500 - 2,000 years old; Dong Duong Buddha statue, Hoai Nhon Avalokitesvara statue, Avalokitesvara statue (8th - 9th century); Devi Goddess statue, Dai Huu Avalokitesvara statue (10th century); Vishnu statue (2nd - 5th century); Surya statue, Son Tho Buddha statue (6th - 7th century); Durga Goddess statue (7th - 8th century); Sa Dec Buddha statue (4th century); Binh Hoa Buddha statue, Loi My Buddha statue (4th - 6th century); Luong Tai Hau seal dated 1833; printing mold of 5-dong bill (dated 1947); Painting Spring Garden of the Central, South and North by the late artist Nguyen Gia Tri (done from 1969 - 1989); Painting Youth in the City (artist Nguyen Sang), sketched in 1967, completed in 1978 (due to the large size of the 2 paintings and the need for strict preservation, the treasure is projected on 2 large screens for viewers to interact).
