This event celebrates Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day and marks nearly 100 years of construction and development of Tan Dinh market, along with many changes and ups and downs of the land of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City.

According to documents of authors and researchers, the current location of Tan Dinh market is Phu Hoa market - built around 1870 - 1880, a prosperous market with an important position in the North of old Saigon. In 1926, the French rebuilt it and named it Tan Dinh market, inaugurated on July 26, 1927.

Today, Tan Dinh market has almost completely preserved its appearance. The market has French architectural style, expressed in the shape of a pointed tower, high roof, and airy surrounding corridors.

The market house impresses with its elaborate and meticulous construction of trusses, beams, and concrete braces. The ventilation windows are arranged appropriately and scientifically , creating air circulation and natural light for the market house.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Tan Dinh ward was one of the cradles of revolutionary struggle. Tan Dinh market traders, along with traders from Da Kao and Ben Thanh markets, were always present in rallies and demonstrations demanding reductions in fares and taxes; actively supporting the revolution financially and materially. During the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, Tan Dinh ward was the first locality to gain power in District 1. Among those victories, it is impossible not to mention the spirit and efforts of Tan Dinh market traders.

Mr. Le Quang Thien, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Tan Dinh Market Management Board said: Up to now, Tan Dinh Market is still one of the famous markets in Ho Chi Minh City. The civilized and polite lifestyle of the market traders has increasingly created prestige with customers, attracting a large number of domestic and international visitors to visit and shop.

Tan Dinh Market not only preserves historical, architectural and artistic values, but also preserves the beauty of daily cultural activities of local residents in particular and of Ho Chi Minh City in general. For many years, Tan Dinh Market has achieved the "Civilized - Commercial" standard, and has been awarded emulation flags, certificates of merit, and certificates of merit by the Government and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
