Hanoi: Traffic police confiscated nearly 200 homemade vehicles and trailers carrying bulky goods after 1 month of operation.

From October 15 to November 14, the Hanoi City Traffic Police force coordinated with commune-level police to handle 243 cases of homemade three-wheeled vehicles and vehicles carrying bulky goods.

On the afternoon of November 21, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi Police announced that the above results were carried out during the process of basic investigation, propaganda and handling of self-produced and assembled 3- and 4-wheeled vehicles; and motorbikes towing other vehicles and objects.

Of the 243 violations mentioned above, 176 were self-produced and assembled 3- and 4-wheel vehicles; 31 were motorbikes carrying bulky goods, and 36 were towing other vehicles or objects.

Hanoi police have confiscated nearly 200 homemade vehicles that do not meet traffic conditions, and at the same time encouraged people to voluntarily dismantle and cut down 42 homemade three-wheeled vehicles.

Major Phung Duc Hieu (Road Traffic Police Team No. 14) said that in addition to strictly handling violations, the police will remind people to transport goods according to regulations and not to buy, sell, or use homemade vehicles.

During the patrol, most of the violators could not present their driving licenses and vehicle registrations in accordance with regulations. According to the authorities, homemade 3- and 4-wheel vehicles on the road always pose a great risk of causing accidents.

During the process, some drivers said that they were doing it for a living or that they were just hired workers, following the orders of the shipper. However, the authorities confirmed that this is a high-risk vehicle that can lead to serious accidents, directly threatening the lives of road users.

In the coming time, the traffic police and commune-level police in the whole city will continue the above plan, including increasing patrols on national highways, provincial roads and inter-commune roads to detect and strictly handle similar acts.

In areas with many craft villages, some households buy homemade 3-wheeled and 4-wheeled vehicles for business and production purposes. Therefore, the traffic police and local police will encourage them to abandon this type of vehicle and destroy homemade vehicles to ensure people's safety.
