In late November 2025, the Long Thanh International Airport (Long Thanh Airport) construction site recorded an accelerated construction atmosphere. The investor, construction units and contractors are focusing on handling the large workload, striving to put the airport into operation with the first flight as planned.

Phase 1 includes a runway, a passenger terminal and ancillary infrastructure, with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.

According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), up to this point, the project component 3, essential works have completed 3 packages (fence; leveling and drainage; terminal pile construction) and are implementing construction of the remaining 12 packages.

The joint venture contractor continues to maintain "3 shifts, 4 crews" construction, speeding up progress to bring this national key project "to the finish line" before December 19.

The 3-phase 1 component project includes 2 runways, 1 passenger terminal and auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year, 1.2 million tons of cargo/year, with a total investment of more than VND 99,019 billion from ACV's capital. The project is expected to be basically completed in 2025 and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

Over the past few days, engineers and workers have been installing a telescopic tube to lead passengers from the terminal to the aircraft parking lot.

For package 4.6 (runway, taxiway, apron), the runway items have been basically completed and welcomed the first calibration flight on September 26. This is an important technical milestone to ensure the project is completed before December 19, 2025 and put into operation in the first half of 2026.

In package 4.7 (airport terminal parking lot), the joint venture has mobilized more than 1,780 engineers, workers and 521 pieces of equipment. Currently, the ground structure has been completed, the cement concrete volume has reached 79.4%, the drainage system has reached more than 93%. The ground service equipment tunnel is expected to be completed on November 30.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, Deputy General Director of ACV, said that the items to be completed before December 19 include: the entire structure of the aircraft parking lot, the ground service equipment basement; drainage system, parking area lighting system, taxiways and parking area lighting system. The areas overlapping with underground technical infrastructure will be completed before March 2026.

For package 4.8 (internal port traffic and technical infrastructure), the construction units have completed more than 40.58%. The contractor is completing the traffic safety, tree, and lighting items and is expected to complete them in November.

ACV assessed that all the packages are being constructed simultaneously on the entire site, in the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "3 shifts, 4 crews". The contractor consortiums have mobilized nearly 14,000 personnel and more than 3,000 pieces of equipment, aiming to basically complete the project before December 19 and put it into commercial operation in early 2026.

In recent days, the weather has been unfavorable, the rainy season has come early and lasted long, greatly affecting underground items such as tunnels, drainage, and roadbeds. ACV has directed to adjust the construction plan and measures appropriately to ensure progress.

Regarding stone materials, the project is still short of about 520,000 m³ due to legal regulations. ACV recommends that Dong Nai province soon supplement the missing volume according to the contractor's needs.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, despite many objective difficulties, the progress of the items is still closely following the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the management agency. All construction work is inspected, supervised and accepted according to current technical standards, ensuring the goal of basic completion before December 19, 2025 and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
