Director Tran Huu Tan and his crew have sought out new settings that tell a story, match the film's mysterious quality and increase its appeal to the audience. Therefore, the film Cam chose Quang Tri as the main setting, aiming to bring cinematic footage for the first time to this land, a place blessed with many natural beauties and also extremely suitable for the horror, fantasy and historical elements of Cam .

Regarding the film project Cam , director Tran Huu Tan said: “In addition to being one of the stories with the most variations in the world, Tam Cam in Vietnam also contains many details that are very potential for a horror version. And that is our first big inspiration as storytellers. We have all heard more or less about the details of revenge: washing hair, removing shrimp, chopping areca nuts, making fish sauce... in most versions, but have not had the opportunity to portray more deeply the story, personality and events that drive the events to happen.”
