The first leg of the Champions League semi-final, PSG vs. Bayern in Paris, unfolded in a way that defied any expectations. The star-studded team produced a spectacular nine-goal thriller, with Luis Enrique's side leading 5-4 after the first half, before the two teams meet again next week.

The team's top scorer, Harry Kane, put Bayern ahead in the 17th minute with a confident penalty. But after that, the 'Bavarian giants' fell behind to the home side, and the gap even widened to 5-2.
Nevertheless, Bayern remained Bayern, even without manager Kompany on the sidelines due to a touchline ban (3 yellow cards). They narrowed the gap to 4-5, creating a level playing field ahead of the second leg of the semi-final in Munich, promising another exciting match.
Harry Kane expressed some regret that Bayern could have controlled the game better: “ There were moments when we could have finished the game earlier. But Bayern are proud of having come back to 4-5 away from home, after being 5-2 down. We played better and better towards the end of the match. We fought hard and got back into the race for a place in the Champions League final.”
The 32-year-old star added: “ Although nine goals were scored today, throughout the match I still saw that Bayern's defense played very well, especially in one-on-one situations.”

You can see it's a battle between the world's top players – the best strikers and the best defenders. Of course, sometimes the strikers will prevail and show their class, just like both PSG and Bayern did today.
Looking back, you'll see that the center-backs have to play many different roles, sometimes like midfielders, sometimes participating in attacks, or drifting out wide to face the wingers. They deserve praise because it's a difficult job, and I think they played exceptionally well today .”
According to former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane was only praising them out of politeness, and didn't really mean it: " Listen, I really like Harry Kane, but there's no way he would praise Bayern's defense."
"Maybe because they're teammates, he's trying to boost their confidence before Bayern's rematch against PSG next week. I think both teams defended very poorly tonight, so Kane's comment was just polite ."
