The days of people crowding to cross the river during rush hour are over.

After a two-month ban (from March 28th to May 27th) on all road traffic on the Long Bien Bridge in both directions from Bo De Ward and Hoan Kiem Ward for repairs, the Long Bien Bridge has reopened to traffic from 0:00 today (May 28th)...

After being temporarily closed for repairs for two months, the Long Bien Bridge reopened to traffic this morning.

Previously, according to the plan, the Hanoi Department of Construction's plan for repairing the Long Bien Bridge was scheduled to last 60 days, starting from 9:00 AM on March 28th until May 27th. During this time, authorities prohibited all vehicles from circulating on the road section of the bridge in both directions from Bo De Ward and Hoan Kiem Ward.

According to our reporter's observations, life on the century-old bridge has returned to normal this morning. Vehicles from both ends of the bridge (Hoan Kiem ward and the Ngoc Thuy dike side in Bo De ward) lined up to cross. As rush hour approached, the number of vehicles heading from Bo De ward towards the city center increased, but there was no traffic congestion.

After a period of maintenance and repair, the Long Bien Bridge has undergone a noticeable transformation. The previously cracked and uneven concrete surfaces have been replaced with a new, smooth, and clean concrete surface. The iron railings have been painted in a uniform color, preserving the bridge's historical charm while giving the more 120-year-old structure a more modern and elegant appearance.

Early in the morning, commuters using motorbikes, bicycles, and other non-motorized vehicles can cross the Long Bien Bridge.

On the day the Long Bien Bridge reopened to traffic, many people stopped on the bridge during quiet moments to admire the Red River or take commemorative photos. The steel bridge spans, bearing the marks of time, remain an indispensable part of Hanoi's memory.

It can be seen that during the two months that Long Bien Bridge was temporarily closed for maintenance and repair, many roads connecting the eastern area with the center of Hanoi frequently experienced a sudden surge in traffic volume. The reopening of Long Bien Bridge is considered an effective solution to help share traffic flow and alleviate congestion on nearby bridges.

During rush hour, the bridge becomes increasingly crowded.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Company, said that before the bridge was put back into operation, all items were inspected and evaluated comprehensively to ensure technical and safety requirements. Currently, all items meet the quality standards as planned.

Here are some photos of the Long Bien Bridge reopening to traffic this morning.
