Hezbollah's deputy leader Naim Qassem, in a televised speech, said his group did not want to expand the war beyond Lebanon, "but if Israel expands it, a response to the maximum extent necessary is inevitable...".

The Israeli military previously stated that it had killed the commander of a Hezbollah air force unit in southern Lebanon, whom it accused of leading attacks on Israel in recent months. However, Hezbollah rejected this claim, saying it was "completely untrue."
Hezbollah said its drones attacked Israeli military headquarters in Safed, northern Israel, as part of retaliation for the assassination of Hamas deputy leader Saleh Al Arouri in Beirut last week and in response to Israel's killing of Hezbollah's top commander Wissam Tawil on Monday.
Thousands attended Tawil's funeral in southern Lebanon, his coffin draped in Hezbollah's yellow flag as it was carried through the streets.
As an officer in Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, Tawil played a leading role in directing the armed wing's operations in southern Lebanon and had previously been deployed to Syria, where the group supported the Syrian government in the civil war.
Hezbollah claims Tawil also participated in a cross-border raid into Israel in 2006, in which the group captured two Israeli soldiers, sparking the most recent major war between the two sides.
A source familiar with Hezbollah's operations said this was the group's first attack on Safed, about 14 kilometers from the Israeli-Lebanon border, since fighting between the two sides erupted as a result of the conflict in Gaza.
An Israeli military spokesman also confirmed that one of their northern bases had been attacked from the air, but did not give the exact location. The spokesman said there were no casualties or damage.
The Israeli military said its air force retaliated against Hezbollah targets in the Lebanese border village of Kfar Kila and a squadron of drones belonging to the group in other parts of southern Lebanon.
