In Huu Vinh commune, after more than 3 years of implementing the Program to care for children in the first 1,000 days of life, there have been outstanding results such as: Reducing the rate of children under 5 years old with malnutrition from 17.1% to 16.2% (93/571 children); Mothers have been aware and cooperated with medical staff to take care of children from the time of pregnancy; Fathers have actively participated in activities such as: Cooperating when staff come to visit the fetus, not forcing their wives to give birth at home, actively participating in rotating porridge cooking sessions. Notably, in the first 3 months of 2024 in Huu Vinh commune, 8 children have escaped malnutrition. Of which, in Mon Vai village, there are 2 children: One child born in 2021 from February to March 2024 has gained from 7kg to 8kg, and is still eating Bibomix. A baby born in 2023 has gained weight from 6 kg to 7 kg and is still eating Bibomix.
Children who are well cared for in the first 1,000 days of life will develop healthily. |
The above results are due to parents paying more attention to their children's nutrition. Through the porridge cooking sessions, parents have gained knowledge not only about nutrition but also about how to teach children to speak, recognize the world around them, practice speaking their mother tongue and common language. Up to now, in Mon Vai village, there have been 9 more families who have voluntarily joined the rotating porridge cooking group, bringing the total number to 45 households.
It can be seen that good care for children in the first 1,000 days of life will help them develop healthily, reduce the cost of disease burden, and contribute to improving the physical strength and stature of future generations.
