Healthcare support
As a densely populated area with numerous factories, industrial zones, the Hon La seaport, and famous spiritual tourism destinations, it also serves as the northern gateway to the province, with a large volume of trade, labor, and population.
However, for a long time, this area lacked a sufficiently large general hospital to meet the healthcare needs. Whenever people fell ill and needed inpatient treatment or specialized medical interventions, they often had to be transferred to provincial-level hospitals, which was costly in terms of time and money, and put excessive pressure on those hospitals.

Based on that reality, the former Quang Trach District Health Center received investment for the construction of facilities and equipment from the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee (formerly) combined with a loan from the World Bank (WB). The project, with a total investment of 52.85 billion VND, was managed by the Department of Health and was part of the project to enhance the capacity of grassroots healthcare facilities implemented in 17 provinces and cities nationwide. This was a large-scale investment in grassroots healthcare, creating an important foundation for the formation of the current Quang Trach Regional General Hospital.
Officially completed as a general hospital in March 2026, Quang Trach Regional General Hospital quickly attracted a large number of people for examination and treatment. To date, the hospital has received and treated more than 8,250 patients; performed nearly 7,000 X-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, and more than 22,000 laboratory tests… These figures reflect the healthcare needs of the people and demonstrate the initial effectiveness of the grassroots healthcare investment project.
At the outpatient clinic, Ms. Nguyen Thi H., residing in Hoa Trach commune, expressed her joy at being able to receive medical examination, treatment, and healthcare here: "Previously, when members of my family were seriously ill, we had to go to the provincial hospital, which was very difficult. Now, with a new hospital near home, clean facilities, and dedicated doctors, everyone is happy and reassured."

Mr. Tran Van M., a worker at Hon La port area, shared: “This area has a large number of workers, and sometimes negligence in labor and construction leads to some unfortunate accidents. Therefore, since the Quang Trach Regional General Hospital started operating, we are truly delighted. The hospital is close by, spacious, clean and beautiful, and the medical staff here are dedicated and attentive, which helps workers like us feel more secure in our jobs.”
Not only residents, but many local voters also expressed satisfaction at now being able to access basic healthcare services right in their locality. Many voters believe that bringing the hospital into operation is a correct policy, with profound social welfare significance for the northern gateway area of the province.
Towards a modern, friendly, and humane healthcare facility.
According to Dr. Uong Dinh Thai, Party Secretary and Director of Quang Trach Regional General Hospital, although it has only recently started operating, the number of patients coming for examination and treatment is increasing rapidly every day. This shows the great demand for healthcare in the area and confirms the practical effectiveness of the investment project in grassroots healthcare.
According to Dr. Thai, the project, once implemented and operational, will not only improve the capacity for medical examination and treatment but also contribute to changing the face of healthcare in the northern part of the province. People will have access to higher-quality medical services right in their local area, significantly reducing the need for referrals to other facilities.
"The greatest achievement today is not just the new facilities or modern equipment, but the trust and enthusiasm of the people towards the local healthcare system," Dr. Thai emphasized.

To meet the growing demand for medical examination and treatment, the hospital's leadership believes that continued investment in infrastructure, equipment, and high-quality human resources is necessary. Currently, many auxiliary facilities, landscaping, and grounds are still being completed.
In line with its long-term development plan, the hospital proposes continued investment in green spaces, community areas, rehabilitation centers, and relaxation areas for patients and their families; and the simultaneous implementation of solutions aimed at serving patients while building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful hospital to create a more friendly, modern, and humane environment for medical examination and treatment.
Besides planning long-term development strategies in a coordinated manner, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the hospital have identified specialized elderly and geriatric healthcare as one of their core tasks. Given the increasing aging population in Quang Trach and neighboring areas, the number of elderly people is growing, while models of care, treatment, and rehabilitation specifically for this group remain limited.
Therefore, the hospital is orienting its development towards a specialized elderly and geriatric healthcare program, gradually establishing a geriatric treatment area, long-term care, rehabilitation, and medical nursing care combined with comprehensive healthcare. This is considered an urgent need for the northern region of the province today.

"We aspire to develop Quang Trach Regional General Hospital not only as a primary healthcare facility but also as a comprehensive healthcare center for local residents, especially the elderly, in the context of the current aging population," shared Master of Science, Doctor Uong Dinh Thai.
To ensure the hospital's sustainable development in the future, along with the effective implementation of the criteria for a bright, green, clean, and beautiful medical facility; the implementation of the "5S" model and Decision No. 2151/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health on "Innovating the style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction," the hospital has focused on improving the skills of its doctors, nurses, and medical staff, while also implementing policies to attract highly specialized doctors and high-quality personnel. Simultaneously, it has increased investment in facilities and infrastructure with modern machinery and equipment, such as: a modern diagnostic imaging system, advanced laboratory testing, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
From a grassroots healthcare investment project, a spacious general hospital now stands at the northern gateway of Quang Tri province. Not only does it contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and reducing the burden on higher-level facilities, but Quang Trach Regional General Hospital is also opening up prospects for a modern, humane, and sustainable medical center, better meeting the healthcare needs of the people in this new era.
