This afternoon, October 12, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City - where the incident of a first grader suffering a broken finger occurred, and parents accusing the homeroom teacher named NTS of beating the student as reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper - officially spoke out.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra said: "On October 4, 2023, during the teaching process, the teacher had inappropriate behavior that caused injury to the student (the medical certificate determined a fracture at the base of the phalanx near the right 4th finger due to trauma). After learning about the incident, the principal, the organizations and the teacher visited the student's house to inquire about his health and took responsibility for the unfortunate incident."

The principal of Nguyen Van Troi Primary School said that the student’s health and mental state are now stable and he is attending school normally. The principal has transferred the student to a different class according to the family’s wishes. At the same time, the teacher who behaved inappropriately has been temporarily suspended from work and the incident has been fully reported to state management agencies.

"Regarding the above teacher, the school is considering implementing the disciplinary process for civil servants according to regulations, without covering up," Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra said in today's report (October 12).

Previously, reflecting to the press, VTT's parent said that her child was a first grader at the school. On the afternoon of October 4, the child came home from school and complained of a sore hand. The family checked and saw that the child's right hand was swollen. When the parents asked, the child said that the homeroom teacher named NTS had beaten her with a musical instrument ruler.

On the morning of October 5, Ms. VTT took her child to a clinic in Tan Binh District. The child was X-rayed. The clinic's results stated: "Fracture at the base of the proximal phalanx - right 4th finger - due to trauma - S62.3" and the instruction "transfer to Children's Hospital - surgery".

Yesterday afternoon, October 11, leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City went to Nguyen Van Troi Primary School to work with the school's board of directors and parents, and directed strict handling of the incident.
