This afternoon, October 12th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City - where a first-grade student suffered a broken finger and parents accused the homeroom teacher, NTS, of hitting the student, as reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper - has officially spoken out.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra stated: "On October 4, 2023, during a lesson, the teacher acted inappropriately, causing injury to a student (the medical certificate from the clinic confirmed a fracture at the base of the proximal phalanx of the fourth finger due to trauma). After learning about the incident, the principal, along with other organizations and the teacher, visited the student's home to inquire about their health and accepted responsibility for the unfortunate incident."

The student broke his finger.

The principal of Nguyen Van Troi Primary School stated that the student's health and spirits are now stable, and he is attending school normally. The principal has arranged for the student to be transferred to another class as requested by the family. Simultaneously, the teacher involved in the inappropriate behavior has been temporarily suspended from her duties, and a full report of the incident has been submitted to the relevant state management agencies.

"Regarding the aforementioned teacher, the school is currently reviewing and implementing disciplinary procedures for civil servants in accordance with regulations, without any cover-up," Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Thanh Tra stated in a report today (October 12).

Previously, in a statement to the press, VTT's parents said that their child is a first-grade student at the school. On the afternoon of October 4th, the child came home from school complaining of hand pain. The family checked and found that the child's right hand was swollen. When the parents asked, the child said that the homeroom teacher, NTS, had hit her with a ruler used for playing musical instruments.

On the morning of October 5th, Ms. VTT took her child to a clinic in Tan Binh District for examination. The child had an X-ray taken, and the clinic's report stated: "Fracture at the base of the proximal phalanx - 4th finger - right - due to trauma - S62.3" and advised "transfer to Children's Hospital - surgery department".

Yesterday afternoon, October 11th, leaders from the Tan Binh District Department of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City, went to Nguyen Van Troi Primary School to work with the school's management and parents, directing them to strictly handle the incident.
