Fortunately, the kick missed Gavi, but the image clearly showed bad intentions on Asencio's part. Once again, the referee stood close but did not make any decision to punish.

The two offensive acts quickly went viral on social media. Many people criticized Valverde and Asencio for their unsportsmanlike and hot-tempered behavior and deserved to be punished.
