
The Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway project, spanning over 83km, passes through four districts and towns in Khanh Hoa province: Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa, Dien Khanh, and Khanh Vinh. This project is part of the North-South expressway.
The project is managed by Project Management Board 7 (under the Ministry of Transport ). The total investment for the project is over 11,800 billion VND, and construction began in January 2023. It is expected to be completed on April 30, 2025, eight months ahead of the original schedule.

According to the report from Project Management Board 7, the overall project volume has reached 82% of the contracted construction value. Of this, 77km of the roadbed has been constructed, achieving 96% completion.

The entire route comprises 34 bridges. To date, the contractor has completed the girder installation for all 34 bridges (100%), and the reinforced concrete bridge decks for 32 out of 34 bridges (94%).

A hill at Km367 (in Dien Khanh district) was excavated and its elevation lowered by approximately 60m over a length of 900m by construction units to make the Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway smoother.

Workers are installing flexible guardrails. According to the investor, 132km of this section has been completed so far, reaching 75% of the entire route.

Approximately 51km of median strip has been constructed as part of the entire project, reaching 59% completion. The image shows a section of the Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway passing through Dien Khanh district where traffic signs have been installed.

The Khanh Binh Bridge – the longest bridge on the Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway project – has been basically completed…
The bridge is nearly 700 meters long with 17 spans, a 4-lane design, crossing Provincial Road 8 and a mountainous valley in the east of Khanh Binh commune (Khanh Vinh district). The total investment for this project is over 200 billion VND.

According to the contractor, the construction of the Khanh Binh bridge previously faced many obstacles due to thousands of square meters of forest land requiring a change in land use. This project was delayed by 7 months in land handover, leading to the risk of delays in the overall progress of the Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway project.

Mr. Dang Ba Manh, Deputy Commander of the Vinaconex contractor, said that the company has mobilized about 40 workers and 15 construction vehicles at the Km344 hill, ensuring that all work such as reinforcing the slope, road surface, drainage system, etc., in this area will be completed by December 31st.

Workers are laying the third (final) layer of asphalt concrete. The investor stated that, to date, contractors have completed 46km of the third layer of asphalt concrete, reaching 56% of the total.

To date, the contractor has completed the bridge section crossing National Highway 26 and is currently constructing the access road connecting to the expressway.

The end point of the Van Phong – Nha Trang expressway will connect to the Nha Trang – Cam Lam expressway project.
When the project is completed on April 30, 2025 as planned, cars will be able to travel on the highway continuously for over 450km from Ho Chi Minh City to the Deo Ca Tunnel (the border area between Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces), then continue along National Highway 1 to the northern provinces.
