Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm's new selection
After the 2025-2026 V-League season concludes, it is highly likely that coach Chu Đình Nghiêm will leave Hải Phòng FC to move to Ninh Bình.
If this deal goes through, it would be a good option for all parties. Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm would be returning to a team with ambitions to compete for the championship, after many years of struggling with a modest squad and the goal of avoiding relegation at Hải Phòng FC.
Ninh Binh FC also has the services of one of the best domestic strategists in the current V-League, thus establishing stability after using three coaches this season.

Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm was the "architect" of Hanoi FC's success from 2016 to 2021, winning three V-League championships in 2016, 2018, and 2019, along with the 2019 National Cup and the 2018, 2019, and 2020 National Super Cups. He is among the coaches with the most domestic titles in history. In Asian competitions, Nghiêm led Hanoi FC to the 2019 AFC Cup Inter-Zone final.
After parting ways with Hanoi FC in mid-2021, Mr. Nghiem accepted the coaching position at Hai Phong FC. At Lach Tray Stadium, the strategist from Thanh Hoa province helped Hai Phong FC transform from a relegation battle into a "warhorse" in the V-League, competing for the V-League 2022 championship with Hanoi FC until the very last round.
Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm could take charge of Ninh Bình Club from next season.
Finishing as runners-up in the 2022 V-League was nothing short of an achievement for Hai Phong FC, as the team from the port city came close to glory with a makeshift squad. The following season, Hai Phong, under coach Chu Dinh Nghiem, nearly pulled off an upset by drawing with Incheon United (South Korea) in the second round of the AFC Champions League play-offs after 90 minutes. Only in extra time, when their opponents had exceptionally good foreign players, did Hai Phong FC suffer defeat.
In the following years, Hai Phong FC no longer competed for the championship, but still maintained a presence in the upper half of the standings. Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem built a well-defined, control-based playing style with attractive and fiery attacks, despite the constant changes in Hai Phong's squad from season to season.

"Hai Phong's goal has always been to avoid relegation, then gradually calculate for a good ranking and deliver exciting matches for the fans," Mr. Nghiem humbly shared.
This season, Hai Phong FC is currently in 5th place with 27 points. According to Mr. Nghiem, the team needs two more points to secure their survival in the league.
Ninh Binh Club needs stability.
Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm's extensive experience and ability to build a playing style are what Ninh Bình Club is currently lacking.
This season, despite spending heavily on squad upgrades and leading the league throughout the first half of the season, the Ninh Binh team suffered a mid-season slump. Ninh Binh FC lacks a distinctive playing style and is inconsistent in big matches. The team lost both legs against Hanoi Police FC, drew luckily against The Cong Viettel in the first half, and also managed a hard-fought victory against Hanoi FC.
Ninh Binh FC has changed three coaches this season: Gerald Albadalejo, Vu Tien Thanh, and now Bae Ji-won. Hoang Duc and his teammates need consistency on the coaching bench to focus on shaping their playing style and maximizing the potential of the players they have.
That's why Ninh Binh FC needs coach Chu Dinh Nghiem. Coach Nghiem himself needs an ambitious team to build upon the dominance of Hanoi FC in the past, instead of struggling in the mid-table points race. It's highly likely that coach Chu Dinh Nghiem will join Ninh Binh FC when this season concludes.
