Mr. De la Fuente emphasized that scoring 5 goals against a formidable opponent like France is clear proof of the class of the Spanish players.
"We took advantage of our opportunities very well. This shows the high level of the players," Mr. De la Fuente proudly shared.
This victory also helped Spain extend their impressive unbeaten streak to 19 matches, including 12 matches in the UEFA Nations League - a tournament in which they have reached the final three times in a row since its inception (champions in the 2022-2023 season and runners-up in the 2020-2021 season).
When asked about the harsh reaction from France, coach De la Fuente calmly commented: "The opponent did not agree with what happened, but they have the class to come back to the match strongly.
Facing a strong team like France is really difficult. I am always ready to participate if every match ends with a score of 5-4 like that."
In particular, when referring to his opponent Portugal in the upcoming final, coach De la Fuente could not hide his respect.
"They are a very strong opponent. It could be like today's game," he predicted. "I am very excited to face Portugal, both teams like to play beautiful football."
And when mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spanish coach had these compliments: "Just mentioning Cristiano Ronaldo's name is enough for me to admire him. Cristiano is an example for all of us in terms of his efforts to achieve impressive numbers."
These compliments show the special caution and respect that coach De la Fuente has for the Portuguese superstar.
The Nations League final between Spain and Portugal will take place in the early morning of June 9.
