“In today’s match, U23 Vietnam created many opportunities but were unlucky because some of them were denied by the crossbar and goalpost. In the second half, U23 Bangladesh played better, their goalkeeper made great saves. Overall, I am not satisfied with the match and we will improve to prepare for the next matches,” said coach Kim Sang-sik after U23 Vietnam’s victory.

Vietnam U23 had a smooth opening match in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers when they defeated Bangladesh U23 2-0 thanks to goals from Ngoc My and Le Viktor. The Korean strategist commented on the match: “Today, the match took place in hot weather but we got a good result. Le Viktor performed well, followed the tactics and scored a goal, I want to congratulate him.”

Similarly, Mr. Kim commented on Thanh Nhan's return and Xuan Bac's performance: "This is Thanh Nhan's first match back after injury. He had an impressive performance, moving intelligently. Xuan Bac has good physical strength, running quite a lot. However, Xuan Bac needs to improve his passing to become a more comprehensive player in the future."

Before the match of U23 Vietnam, coach Kim Ssang-sik was present to watch the match between U23 Yemen and U23 Singapore. He commented on the two opponents: “I was there to watch these two teams compete. The most important thing for the teams is physical strength. The players playing in hot temperatures greatly affects their physical strength, especially when they have to play for 90 minutes. In Group C, the level of the 4 teams is similar, so U23 Vietnam must be well prepared for any opponent.”

According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Singapore on September 6. The remaining match with U23 Yemen will take place on September 9. This is considered the final match of Group C to determine the ticket to the next round.
