Coach Pep Guardiola surprisingly wants to retire early.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Coach Pep Guardiola revealed that he feels he is getting old and wants to seriously consider retirement after his contract with Man City expires.

"I know that after my time with Man City, I will stop, that's for sure. This has been decided very clearly," coach Pep Guardiola confided ahead of the new season with the Etihad Stadium team.

According to The Sun , the Spanish manager's contract with Man City runs until 2027. However, the pressure of competition in Europe's toughest league has left the 54-year-old feeling exhausted, despite being the manager who has achieved the most success at Man City.

"I'm quite exhausted, especially when things don't go well. Now I feel like a 75-year-old man! I'm depressed, everything is painful."

"So, considering my biological age, if I took the test, I would probably be younger. I hope that after some time, I will be healthier than I am now," coach Pep Guardiola expressed.

"If things don't go well, the evenings become more difficult, and so do the days. As a coach, I'm not just saying this to myself, but to all my colleagues. Otherwise, you won't be able to get the job done."

"The pressure on your shoulders is immense, and above all, you need people's help to see things for what they truly are. You have to strive for stability when you're experiencing so many ups and downs and you have to work so hard," the Spanish strategist added.

Ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager revealed he struggled to swallow meals. And as he enters his 10th season managing Man City, Guardiola is eager to rediscover the feeling of winning with his team.

"I like failure. In this society, where everything has to be perfect, where you have to post food on Instagram. Every day we have to prove that we're happy. Yes, I'm sad, I fail, and I lose. So what?"

"After I finish managing Man City, I don't know how long I'll be gone—one year, two years, three years, 10, 15 years, I don't know. But I will leave after my time with the team because I need to stop and focus on myself," the 54-year-old coach concluded.
