Coach Philippe Troussier is not afraid of losing, determined to experiment

In the two losses (both 0-2) against China and Uzbekistan, coach Philippe Troussier only talked about the problems that the Vietnamese team encountered.

If there are better results, the French strategist and his students will more or less reduce the pressure, but all are persistent in carrying out the biggest goal: testing.

In the match against China, it was easy to see that the Vietnamese team had a good position in the second half, but instead of using experienced players to turn the game around, coach Philippe Troussier sent a series of young players onto the field such as Dinh Bac, Van Cuong, Thai Son, Van Khang...

Of course, the gap between the U23 and even U20 players and their seniors is still very large. The chaos also makes the Vietnamese team's playing style not smooth and fluent, instead there are mistakes.

In the next match against Uzbekistan, new faces Dinh Trieu, Dinh Bac, Minh Trong, Thai Son, Tien Anh, Tuan Tai... were given the opportunity. After the Vietnamese team was two goals behind, coach Troussier once again made a surprising decision by sending Duc Chien, Van Toan, Van Luan... onto the field instead of players with a lot of international experience.

With three friendly matches in just over a week, apart from Quang Hai's injury that will keep him out for a month, coach Philippe Troussier has used the maximum number of players in the Vietnam national team. Therefore, it is not surprising that the French coach used a squad that was not the strongest to play against Korea.

The problem is how Mr. Troussier's experiments have been successful, because the two matches against China and Uzbekistan have not met the requirements. Against a much higher-class opponent like South Korea, the Vietnamese team could easily fall into a situation of... chasing the ball and receiving a heavy defeat.

But the big lessons at this time are very important for the young players. In just 1 month, they will have to enter fierce battles with a lot of pressure but are not allowed to make mistakes.

In other words, coach Philippe Troussier is taking risks, accepting criticism when the playing style and results of the Vietnamese team are not good to persevere with the goal of experimentation, while at the same time giving young players the opportunity to stumble and mature.

If the players make mistakes, they have a chance to do it again. If the Vietnamese team struggles to defend and concedes many goals, this is a valuable lesson, helping the players learn how to overcome difficulties to become more courageous and resilient.

Having determined these things, Coach Troussier will certainly still have experiments in the match against Korea instead of straining himself to avoid an embarrassing defeat.

This experiment is not only about the human factor, but also the way of playing and operating is also of special interest to the French strategist. What the Vietnamese team should do when they can only control the ball at 30%, and cannot advance the ball, is what Mr. Troussier is thinking about.
