Ange Postecoglou became the manager with the most points in his first nine games in the Premier League, after Tottenham beat Fulham 2-0 on October 24th.
Thanks to winning the last match of round 9, Tottenham lead the league with 23 points, after seven wins and two draws. This achievement also helped Postecoglou set a record for the most points a manager has earned in their first nine Premier League games, breaking the previous record of 22 points held by Mike Walker (managing Norwich City in the 1992-1993 season) and Guus Hiddink (Chelsea in the 2008-2009 season).

Postecoglou will manage Tottenham this summer, after leaving Celtic. Prior to that, in two years, the 58-year-old coach led Celtic to two Scottish league titles, one Scottish Cup, and two League Cups. He also won the Asian Cup in 2015 with Australia and the Japanese league title in 2019 with Yokohama Marinos.
When asked about his record with Tottenham, Postecoglou replied: "Look, it's everyone's credit. We played really consistently and performed well."
Postecoglou also praised the players' hard work, good organization, and patience in finding weaknesses in the opponent's defense. But the Australian manager of Greek descent also appreciated Fulham's organized style of play, especially their defense.
In the 36th minute, following a defensive error by a Fulham defender, Son Heung-min seized the opportunity to curl the ball into the net, opening the scoring. In the 54th minute, Tottenham continued their success with a pressing game in the opponent's half. After a careless pass from a Fulham defender, Son assisted James Maddison to seal an early victory. However, after taking a two-goal lead, the home team reduced the intensity of the game. If not for several outstanding saves by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Tottenham could have conceded a goal.
"That was probably our worst 45 minutes of the season," Postecoglou said. "We need to ensure discipline in our approach to the game. In that context, we should have controlled the game better."
Tottenham are currently two points ahead of the two teams behind them, Man City and Arsenal. The Spurs have had their best start since the 1960-1961 season, when they began with 11 consecutive wins on their way to winning the English league title. This Friday, Tottenham could extend their lead to five points if they beat Crystal Palace in the early match of round 10.
