Standing at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level, from Ham Rong mountain, visitors can admire the panoramic view of the Sa Pa National Tourist Area, shrouded in clouds. But perhaps the most impressive sight is the peach blossoms in full bloom. Each delicate petal, with its pure, pale pink hue, stands out against the blue sky and white mist, creating a scene that is both poetic and majestic.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Quan, Head of Business Department, Ham Rong Ecological Tourist Area Management Board, said: Currently, the tourist area is preserving and caring for about 3,000 peach trees, many of which are over 25 years old. This is an impressive number, demonstrating the care and effort to preserve one of the characteristic symbols of Sa Pa.
According to Mr. Quan, peach blossoms in Ham Rong in particular and Sa Pa in general have unique characteristics compared to peach blossoms in many other localities. Most of the peach trees here are grown by local people and management units from seeds taken directly from native peach trees.
From those seeds, through years of cultivation and care in the harsh climate of the high mountains, the peach trees gradually adapted, grew healthily, and produced long-lasting, beautiful flowers. Not importing seeds from elsewhere helps preserve the pure, native genetic resources, creating a unique, delicate yet striking pale pink hue.

The peach blossom season in Ham Rong usually lasts from before the Lunar New Year and can continue for several months in the early part of the year, depending on weather conditions. Thanks to the characteristic cool climate, the peach blossoms here tend to bloom later than in lower areas, and also last longer, making it convenient for tourists to visit, take photos, and enjoy the scenery.
To preserve and maintain approximately 3,000 peach trees, the Ham Rong Eco-tourism Area Management Board has developed a comprehensive care plan, from pruning and fertilizing to pest and disease control and ensuring suitable soil conditions. Conservation efforts are not limited to maintaining the number of trees but also aim to improve their quality, creating a harmonious landscape between nature and human intervention. Each peach tree is not just an ornamental plant, but also a part of the cultural space, contributing to the Sa Pa tourism brand.
Not only is it attractive because of its vibrant peach blossoms, the Ham Rong Mountain eco-tourism area also attracts visitors with its fresh air and harmoniously planned landscape. Winding paths through the flower gardens and strategically placed viewpoints allow visitors to enjoy the scenery while relaxing.
Bill Pham, a tourist from Australia, shared his relaxed feeling while visiting: "Coming here, you can relax, not have to think too much, and your mood naturally brightens." Sharing the same sentiment, Kasun Dangbutt said the atmosphere at Ham Rong is very pleasant and fresh; the scenery is beautiful and provides a feeling of ease while visiting. For Eddie Wanh, the scenery here is compelling enough for him to recommend it to friends and family, hoping to return someday.
To provide visitors with a complete experience during the Lunar New Year, the Ham Rong Mountain Eco-tourism Area Management Board is currently focusing on caring for flowers and ornamental plants and finalizing preparations for the Ham Rong Mountain National Scenic Area Festival, scheduled to take place from February 19th to February 22nd. Many unique cultural and artistic activities will be organized, promising to add more highlights to the spring season in this high mountain area.

Amidst the cool spring weather, strolling under the blossoming peach trees, breathing in the fresh air, and watching the clouds drift lazily across the mountain slopes, each visitor feels as if they are touching a very unique spring of Sa Pa. And in that picture, the peach blossoms of Ham Rong silently display their beauty, welcoming spring and captivating visitors.
