The cast, both professional and amateur, practiced together, perfecting their performances.
After several days of individual rehearsals, starting on April 27th, the entire cast, both professional and amateur, began practicing and perfecting their performances at the Sun Carnival Square stage in Bai Chay ward – the venue for the Ha Long Carnival on the evening of May 1st. The program features a large cast of performers and spectacular, highly artistic performances, with rehearsals conducted with the utmost sense of responsibility.
With the theme: “Ha Long Carnival 2025 - Connecting Heritage, Pioneering and Shining,” the program consists of four parts: Opening Ceremony; Ha Long Carnival Grand Dance; DJ Performance; and High-Altitude Artistic Fireworks Display. The idea is to bring together the intangible heritage of the three regions of Vietnam against the backdrop of the heritage and wonder of Ha Long Bay, while also reviving the vibrant street festival atmosphere of Carnival, creating unique highlights for this year's festival. The program brings together a cast of up to 1,000 performers, showcasing the image of a beautiful heritage land rich in historical and cultural value.
Director Hoang Cong Cuong, General Director of the Ha Long Carnival 2025 program, said: "The rehearsal atmosphere for the Carnival program is very urgent, serious, and full of professionalism from all the actors, experts, and crew. We want to bring a truly meaningful festival season, spreading the most beautiful images of Quang Ninh to the public, people nationwide, and tourists worldwide . This year's Carnival will fully showcase the value of the precious heritage not only of Quang Ninh but also of all Vietnam, all converging on this stage. We want to bring a truly meaningful Carnival stage, vibrant with colors and elaborately and uniquely presented performances."
The sound and lighting systems have been fully installed.
The Ha Long Carnival 2025 also utilizes the most modern art and advanced technology available today. The performances and scenes in the program are presented using contemporary artistic language, with mapping, lasers, light shows, and cutting-edge technological effects, creating a festival space that keeps pace with global trends. To ensure the effects and deliver a visually stunning performance in terms of sound and light, the technical team constructed a magnificent stage nearly 100 meters long and 24 meters high. This year's stage recreates the majestic beauty of Ha Long Bay, combining traditional art and modern technology. At the center is a magnificent rocky mountain symbol, surrounded by lighting effects and unique artistic models, depicting the interplay between culture and nature. This space celebrates Quang Ninh as a vibrant living heritage, a convergence of excellence, and affirms its status as a world heritage and wonder.
The highlight of the program is the stage constructed using rock formations to project 3D mapping. The construction team erected a 16-meter-high, 26-meter-wide mountain made of ventilated steel mesh, with a robust structure combined with a mapping system to create an impressive stage space. Alongside this is a model of a traditional Vietnamese stringed instrument (đàn tính) measuring 13 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 8 meters high. This is an intangible cultural heritage of the Tay ethnic group in Binh Lieu, holding immense significance in the lives and activities of the local people. To date, the stage and grandstand area are 90% complete, ensuring the project stays on schedule and adheres to the planned technical specifications.
The construction team is installing the grandstands for the VIP seating.
The program utilizes 10 high-powered projectors manufactured in the USA and Belgium to display the entire visual presentation for the artistic performances. Alongside this are 1,000 stage effect lights of various types strategically placed to create dynamic spatial and temporal settings. Additionally, two LED screens on either side of the stage display promotional videos for tourism and live images of the program. The technical team has also completed the stage area, installing rotating platforms and lifting platforms to ensure professional performances, create surprising stage effects, fully convey the director's intentions, and deliver the most visually stunning performances for locals and tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Technical Director of the Ha Long Carnival 2025 program, shared: "To accomplish this massive amount of work, we arranged our time, mobilized approximately 400 personnel and nearly 500 tons of equipment for the program. In addition, the technical team proactively conducted on-site research and proposed solutions to best suit the director's vision. Especially for a large-scale program with such vibrant colors as the Ha Long Carnival, we worked with the most reputable sound and lighting companies in Vietnam to deliver the best quality program for locals and tourists, fully conveying the values of culture, history, and people of Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, to friends both domestically and internationally."
According to the plan, starting today, all the actors in the show will be rehearsing on stage, practicing, conducting preliminary rehearsals, and holding final rehearsals for the official performance on May 1st.
