This spring, the entire province planted approximately 35,200 hectares, with an estimated yield of 62.2 quintals/hectare. Besides rice, the winter-spring corn crop also reached over 4,100/5,600 hectares, accounting for over 73% of the total planted area, with an estimated yield of 49.8 quintals/hectare; various types of green vegetables were harvested on 4,760/4,790 hectares, reaching 99.3% of the total planted area, with an estimated yield of 158.7 quintals/hectare.
Farmers in Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district, are sowing rice seedlings in preparation for transplanting the early rice crop.
Immediately after harvesting the spring crop, farmers prepared the land for 12,336/22,525 hectares of the summer crop. They also began sowing seedlings to prepare for the early summer crop (accounting for 40% of the total summer crop area); the amount of rice seeds reached approximately 245 tons. Besides rice, 854/4386 hectares of summer corn have been planted; and 782/4590 hectares of summer corn have been planted.
To ensure a successful rice crop, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests that the People's Committees of the districts direct local authorities to strengthen propaganda and guidance for farmers to boost rice production, striving to complete the planned targets and prevent farmers from abandoning their fields or crops. Maximize the mobilization of resources and personnel to accelerate land preparation and rice planting; direct and guide farmers to prepare the land thoroughly and increase lime application to limit post-planting physiological diseases. Simultaneously, strengthen inspection, forecasting, and timely control of rice pests and diseases from the beginning of the season...
Local authorities also instructed residents to closely monitor weather conditions and proactively implement preventative measures to minimize damage in the event of natural disasters.
