Completed repair of dangerous expansion joints on Ring Road 3 elevated road

TPO - Recently, some expansion joints on the elevated road of Ring Road 3 have been damaged, creating bumps that cause difficulties and dangers for traffic. Last night (May 7), the Hanoi Department of Transport directed the repair and restoration of these expansion joints.

One of the expansion joint positions was repaired last night and completed early this morning (May 8).

Expansion joints are the joints between the girders of the elevated Ring Road 3 viaduct. After a period of use and large traffic volume, some expansion joints have been damaged and cracked.

After several times being repaired by the road maintenance unit by welding and patching with layers of raw concrete, expansion joints created bumps and mounds higher than the road surface.

This is both dangerous for vehicles on Ring Road 3 and causes traffic congestion during rush hour.

After receiving feedback from drivers and public opinion, the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Transport directed relevant functional units to carry out systematic and synchronous repairs.

The area with the most damaged expansion joints is at pillars T260, T275, T290... from Mai Dich to Phap Van.

On the night of May 7, the Hanoi Department of Transport temporarily closed the road to allow vehicles and construction workers to dig up the roadbed, reinstall new expansion joints, and standard expansion joints...

Then, the construction unit used machinery to lay asphalt on top, creating a flat roadbed.

By this morning (May 8), the locations of the expansion joints creating bumps in the direction of Mai Dich - Phap Van have been fixed.
