Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company (stock code: HAG), chaired by Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc (Bau Duc), has just announced its financial report for the second quarter of 2025, recording net revenue of VND 2,329 billion, an increase of more than 50% over the same period. After deducting expenses, after-tax profit reached nearly VND 510 billion, an increase of 88%.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai stops losing money
Accumulated in the first 6 months of the year, Hoang Anh Gia Lai's net revenue and after-tax profit reached VND 3,709 billion and VND 870 billion, respectively, equivalent to an increase of 34% and 74% over the same period in 2024.
Thanks to that, Mr. Duc's company officially erased the loss of thousands of billions of dong from previous years and recorded undistributed profits as of June 30 of nearly 400 billion dong.
In previous years, Hoang Anh Gia Lai was mired in losses. At its peak in 2020, Mr. Duc's company suffered a net loss of VND2,383 billion, leading to an accumulated loss of VND6,301 billion.
In the following years, Hoang Anh Gia Lai's business situation improved thanks to agricultural exports, selling pigs to eat bananas... However, in many meetings with shareholders, Mr. Duc often said "accumulated losses are my biggest obsession" and affirmed his determination to make efforts to eliminate accumulated losses in many different ways.
At the recent 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Mr. Duc also confided that for many years, mentioning Hoang Anh Gia Lai meant mentioning debt, and no one cared about loan applications. “That is the pain. My goal for many years has been to pay off all debt and erase accumulated losses,” he shared.
Also according to the financial report, as of June 30, Hoang Gia Lai's total assets increased by nearly 17% compared to the beginning of the year, to VND26,000 billion . Of which, the cash portfolio (including bank deposits, cash, and money in transit) had VND193 billion.
However, liabilities also increased by 21%, to VND15,600 billion . Notably, the scale of debt increased by 34%, to more than VND9,300 billion , accounting for 59% of liabilities.
On the market, HAG shares are trading at VND 13,900/share, up nearly 15% compared to early 2025.
