Mr. Duong started working at Hon Gai Coal Company in 2013 and has been involved in the mining industry for 12 years. Currently, he serves as the Team Leader of the Service Team, specializing in coal trimming, repair, and transportation – a crucial step in ensuring the smooth operation of the production line. On average, each production shift, Workshop No. 2 mines 300-350 tons of coal, with Mr. Duong's team always playing a key role in supporting and ensuring efficient operation.
Over the past three years (2022-2024), Mr. Duong has consistently excelled in all assigned tasks, making significant contributions to the overall achievements of the workshop and the company. Working directly in challenging locations with complex geological conditions, especially in areas with depleted resources, deep layers, high production costs, and high risks, Mr. Duong has always demonstrated strong leadership and a high sense of responsibility. Under the guidance of the leadership and the solidarity of the team, he has overcome many challenges, striving to excel in production, contributing to maintaining and stabilizing output under conditions of shrinking production areas.
Not only is Mr. Duong highly skilled professionally, but he also consistently upholds a strong sense of collective responsibility, actively assisting colleagues, especially mentoring young, newly hired workers. He readily shares his experience and provides dedicated guidance to help his colleagues quickly adapt to their work, improve their skills, and create a high-quality workforce within the production team. He himself always ensures consistent work attendance and maintains a professional work ethic.
In his work, Mr. Duong constantly strives to learn, improve his knowledge, and proactively seek out and apply new working methods. He boldly proposes many technical improvement initiatives to the leadership, which have been effectively implemented in production. For example, in 2023, he and his colleagues proposed the initiative "New fabrication of the SGB 520/40 scraper tail assembly with a chain tensioning and lowering mechanism." Stemming from the lack of replacement equipment for scrapers in seam 11, Mr. Duong proposed a solution to overcome this problem. The initiative not only shortened replacement time, ensured safety, and avoided production bottlenecks, but also saved significant costs for the company. It has been widely adopted throughout the industry, bringing great technical and economic benefits.
In 2024, he continued to contribute to the initiative "Protecting and expanding the cross-section of the upper transport channel at the -110/100 level to facilitate the redirection of coal transport in the longwall mining area at the -100 level of seam 11", helping to shorten transport distances, save time, reduce the risk of congestion, and ensure absolute safety in difficult geological conditions.
In addition to his professional work, Mr. Duong is also an active participant in cultural, sports , and charitable activities, as well as emulation movements within the unit. He is always exemplary and enthusiastic in participating in and encouraging employees to respond to social activities launched by the company and trade unions, such as: contributing to supporting families of workers with particularly difficult circumstances, those who have suffered work accidents, or those who have sacrificed their lives in coal production; the new rural development program; and the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor, no one is left behind"... Furthermore, he has proposed to the leadership to organize many unique emulation movements, such as: "Taking on challenging projects," implementing "Corporate culture," and "Smoke-free office," contributing to spreading a healthy and positive lifestyle within the unit.
With his positive contributions to the company, Mr. Duong has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier at the grassroots level" for many years; he received a commendation from the Provincial People's Committee for his excellent work performance in the period 2022-2023. In 2024, he was honored to be recognized as a "Typical Advanced Worker" at the provincial level. Mr. Hoang Van Duong is a typical image of a coal industry worker in the new era: diligent, creative, dedicated to his profession, full of compassion and a desire to excel.
