In a touching story, Venerable Thich Nu Lien Nha shared that Uncle Ho was a son of Nghe An and grew up in Hue. His thoughts left us with core values of philosophy of life and world view, the center of which is that people strive for truth, goodness, beauty, compassion, joy, forgiveness, selflessness, and living a good life and following the path of virtue.
Imbued with Uncle Ho's teachings: "No matter how beneficial it is to oneself, one must consider whether it is beneficial to the country or not. If it is not beneficial but harmful, then definitely do not do it. Every day, try to do something beneficial to the country, even if it is a small thing, then in a year we can do 365 things. Many small benefits add up to a big benefit". With the wish to try to do things beneficial to the people, no matter how small, serving sentient beings is making offerings to the Buddha, the nun always actively participates in charity and social welfare activities.
“In addition to giving out hundreds of gifts and scholarships, every month I also make 500 vegetarian lunch boxes and 500 milk boxes to give to patients and their families in difficult circumstances at Hue Central Hospital (branch 2). Currently, I am taking care of and raising 10 abandoned children, children with no place to go, children in difficult circumstances. All of them are educated from kindergarten to all levels,” confided Venerable Thich Nu Lien Nha.
During a visit to the Buddhist temple in Hien Luong village, Phong Hien commune, Ms. Le Thi Mong Thu was moved by the kindness of Venerable Thich Nu Lien Nha and shared: “I am very impressed with the nun and the orphans being raised here. Through the volunteer groups, today, I have truly experienced it. With her boundless love for children, Venerable Thich Nu Lien Nha has let me feel the warm atmosphere of a family through the eyes and smiles of the orphans being raised at the Buddha's door.
I hope the nun has good health to continue this difficult journey. I hope the children grow up to be good people from the compassionate hearts… in that “Childhood Home”!
Society is increasingly developing, but there are still difficult circumstances in life. I always determine that I must constantly propagate and mobilize people and Buddhist families to well implement the Party's policies and the State's and local laws. The ideological, moral and lifestyle values of President Ho Chi Minh, together with the Buddhist worldview, make each person more valuable in the spirit of compassion, forgiveness and love for everyone; making this life better”, said Venerable Thich Nu Lien Nha.
