Three Vietnamese female students passionate about STEM fields have the opportunity to receive full scholarships for a four-week experiential trip to Virginia Tech University in the United States.
The U.S. diplomatic mission in Vietnam announced on November 8th that it is seeking candidates for the 2024 TechGirls scholarship program. The deadline for applications is 11 PM on December 8th (Vietnam time).
Three full scholarships will be awarded to female students in grades 10 and 11 who are proficient in English, interested in STEM ( Science , Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and plan to pursue a career in technology. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential through academic achievements, community contributions, and extracurricular activities.
The scholarship covers travel, accommodation, study materials, and other living expenses.

TechGirls, an initiative of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs , U.S. Department of State, is a summer exchange program for girls aged 15 to 17 who want to study and work in STEM fields. This year's program will take place in July-August 2024 at Virginia Tech University. 111 girls from 37 countries and territories, along with over 13 American students, will be selected to participate.
Students will attend an interactive technology and computer camp, then travel to one of the cities of Austin, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Portland, or Seattle for networking and career exploration. They will also experience homestay life and social activities. At the end of the program in the US, students will participate in a local community project of their own design, funded by the US Department of State.
Established in 2012, TechGirls has awarded scholarships to 653 female students. Initially focused on countries in the Middle East and North Africa, the program expanded globally in 2022.
