Learn to accept

Instead of continuing on a predetermined career path with many advantages, Minh Man boldly turned to the field he was truly passionate about.

Le Duc Minh Man (28 years old, from Quang Ngai) is the "beat keeper" for the fierce Esports battles of Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) - a large-scale esports tournament of League of Legends, as a referee, supervisor and event coordinator. Not only in the domestic arena, he is also a production bridge for international projects, in charge of coordinated production and behind-the-scenes operations of programs held in Vietnam.

Few people know that Minh Man graduated from a famous university in the Southern region with a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. During his student years, he had the opportunity to go to Malaysia and South Korea to present scientific papers and environmental research projects at international conferences. After graduating, he chose a stable job in his field of study to reassure his family. But after 3 years, Man decided to pursue the events industry. Touching what he longed for, Man realized that true value lies in inner maturity, not just income or advancement. He has a habit of reflecting and positioning himself: "I learned to accept the unknown, listen more and gradually move forward from setbacks. The important thing is to never stop learning and never forget the reason why you started so that you can soon become a version of yourself that makes you proud."

Through many opportunities for practical experience, Man (wearing glasses) has improved his sensitivity, flexibility, and fairness at work.

In fact, since his senior year of university, Man has realized that he loves and is excited about helping organize student events and passionately capturing memorable moments through the lens. "This turn is not too late but still at the right time" - Man said. Although leaving the engineering industry, Man still appreciates the foundation that trained him. Systematic thinking and discipline help him control the pace of work well, especially during peak periods such as the VCS Summer 2024 finals - the first major Esports tournament to welcome 3,000 live spectators after the COVID-19 pandemic at Nguyen Du Stadium (HCMC).

Man and his team worked continuously for many days and nights to transport equipment, install the system, and check the transmission lines. He participated in test matches to check for technical errors, simulate situations to prepare for official matches. The job was stressful, requiring thoroughness, coordination, and calmness. On the Esports stage, collisions between players were inevitable.

At this time, Man was even more calm in the midst of the chaos, reviewing the situation, conversing with the head referee and making the final decision. This is when the role of the referee clearly shows, having to convince with reason and understanding because the contestants are looking from the hot spot while the organizers have to see the whole picture and be fair. The enthusiasm of the audience is both a motivation and a test of the meticulousness of each step, ensuring the best experience for the viewers and the contestants.

Man is not only doing well in his current job but is also preparing for further advancement. He is working hard to master his second foreign language, Chinese, to increase his competitiveness and develop his future career.

Loving the profession, Man soon realized that passion alone was not enough, but also required personal courage. He proactively built up “soft weapons” by observing good colleagues, finding mentors, and researching knowledge on the Internet.

Fear of crowds, shyness about communication and being introverted used to be big barriers. In order not to fall behind in an environment that requires flexibility and connection, Man learned to balance her personality.
