An examiner marking the 2025 high school graduation exam said: "Although the exam structure is familiar as it has been for many years, and the marking options are relatively open and easy, many papers do not have high scores, some candidates have zero scores, from 1 point or lower." Meanwhile, a teacher entering scores in Ho Chi Minh City said that many papers have very good scores, with a relatively high number of 8 points, and a few papers with 9.25 points.

Explaining the above differentiation, a literature teacher in Ho Chi Minh City analyzed: "Candidates taking the 2006 program are very diverse. Most of them have weak academic ability, failed the exam last year and had to retake it. Among them, there is also a large number of candidates who only need to achieve the average score to graduate, so they do not need to try too hard." Besides, there are also many candidates who use literature scores to apply for university admission, so the scores are very clearly differentiated as mentioned above.
Students taking the exam under the old 2006 program mainly had to study by themselves, without being able to review with teachers at school. Candidates who achieved high scores showed great determination and the effectiveness of knowing how to study and review by themselves.
The 2025 high school graduation exam in literature according to the 2006 GeneralEducation Program consists of 2 parts: In the reading comprehension part (3 points), the given text is the poem " Nep Nghia" by poet Nguyen Duc Mau. This part also has 4 questions from recognition to connection and application. In the writing part, the paragraph writing question (about 200 words) requires candidates to "present their thoughts on the need to renew themselves". This requirement creates excitement for candidates when doing the test and is praised by many teachers. The literary argument question (5 points) of the writing part is a requirement to analyze a classic excerpt from the short story "Vo Chong A Phu" by writer To Hoai. Most candidates can do this question because they have studied the work very carefully. However, there is also a high level of differentiation, especially the second part with the requirement "from there, comment on the humanistic thought of writer To Hoai expressed in the excerpt".

The 2025 high school graduation exam is the first exam to apply the new General Education Program issued in 2018, and is still organized for candidates according to the General Education Program 2006. Therefore, this year's exam has 2 types of exam questions. 12th grade candidates will take the exam with questions according to the General Education Program 2018. Independent candidates who have not graduated from the old program will take the exam with questions according to the General Education Program 2006.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this is the last year that candidates can register to take the exam to the 2006 General Education Program. If students studying the 2006 program fail the graduation exam this year and want to take the exam again next year, they must study and review according to the current 2018 program.
