General Secretary To Lam 's article is very timely, demonstrating the new leadership of Vietnam's steadfast stance on preventing corruption and waste. Reality has proven that corruption today has become a global problem that every country must face.

That is the opinion of Professor, Doctor Cheng Hanping - Director of the Center for Vietnamese Studies, Zhejiang University of Industry - when answering a reporter's interview about the role of practicing thrift and fighting waste in increasing resources for the country when entering a new era in the article "Fighting waste" by General Secretary To Lam.

Professor, Dr. Thanh Han Binh affirmed that the article by General Secretary To Lam on the one hand shows the consistent viewpoint of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the issue of fighting waste, on the other hand shows that the new leadership will inherit the nation's fine tradition of thrift, typically learning and following the example of President Ho Chi Minh on thrift and fighting waste.

Currently, Vietnam is aiming to become a developed, upper-middle-income country and has set “two 100-year goals” (2030 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and 2045 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country). In this challenging process, fighting corruption and waste is extremely important, even deciding the success or failure of the whole process. Therefore, the call of General Secretary To Lam is very timely and necessary, an important warning for the entire Party, to seriously practice thrift, fight waste, and be uncompromising with corruption, only then can the two great 100-year goals above be successfully achieved.

Commenting on the opinion that the more civilized and progressive a country is, the more it should value thrift. A culture of thrift is the spiritual motivation and intellectual foundation to create a thrifty society, the Director of the Center for Vietnamese Studies said that he completely agrees with this point of view.

As a scholar studying Vietnam, he always believes that Chinese and Vietnamese cultures have many similarities, both deeply influenced by Confucianism: "In Confucian ideology, thrift is a good and noble virtue. Since childhood, we have heard the familiar saying "every grain of rice is sweat and tears". Today, society is increasingly developed, increasingly civilized, and material wealth is increasingly abundant. However, we still need to persevere with the original goal, seriously practice thrift, and fight against waste. This is not only a criterion of civilization, but also a need of the times, the core content of a thrifty society".

Vietnam researcher Thanh Han Binh affirmed: “Based on the above viewpoint, the article demonstrates the General Secretary’s far-sighted vision, and will certainly play an important awakening role for the entire Communist Party of Vietnam. Many Chinese scholars studying Vietnam, including myself, highly appreciate this call by General Secretary To Lam.”
