That was one of the words "no" emphasized by Minister Nguyen Kim Son in his speech at the ceremony to respond to "Law Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" in 2024 at Thanh Xuan Secondary School ( Hanoi ) on the morning of October 31.
The activity was organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) in coordination with Thanh Xuan district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: We are moving towards an education that develops people comprehensively, an education that develops people as citizens of society. As a citizen in society, each person is not only responsible for developing themselves but also responsible for contributing to the development of society, knowing how to live with society. If a society is not good, on a personal level, each person will hardly be happy.

In developing a comprehensive human being, according to the Minister, education pays special attention to moral and personality development. To develop morality and personality, in the 2018 General Education Program, there are many subjects and contents that clearly define the values that students need to achieve during their studies. In which patriotism, humanity, diligence, responsibility, etc. are all core and important values.
“However, the minimum of ethics, the basis of ethics, the beginning of ethics comes from obeying the law, following the law and legal awareness,” the Minister said, adding that the law already has the minimum of ethics.
Sharing with students and teachers on the occasion of the Law Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (November 9), the Minister mentioned many "no" words in teaching, learning and law enforcement inside and outside of school.
That is, learning and following the law is “not a one-day thing”. November 9 is a day to encourage, focus, and pay attention to awareness and enforcement of the law. However, teaching about the law, training about the law, and enforcing the law must be activities that are carried out regularly and continuously.
Learning, complying with and following the law “is not the job of one person”. Because according to the Minister, we live in the community, in society. The law is for many people in society, so we need to work together to implement the law.
Each student “does not wait until they are grown up” to learn and practice the law. “Not only awareness, but also action”. Understanding and being aware of the law is extremely important, but not just reading and learning without doing.

“Learning about the law is not only in the main curriculum”. Besides the main curriculum, at home or outside the home and school, we need to obey and be aware of the law everywhere.
“Do not wait for others to remind you to learn and follow the law.” There needs to be self-awareness in learning and following the law.
“Not only obeying the law for big things”. Not only obeying the laws and codes, but for students, law enforcement needs to start from the smallest things. The Minister gave an example, students need to obey the regulations, rules, principles, and statutes of the school. Obeying specific regulations in the community is also the beginning of obeying the law. From specific actions, through which the awareness of law enforcement is gradually formed.
And according to the Minister, complying with the law is “not just the job of students”. Teachers and parents must be role models in implementing and obeying the law.
Responding to Vietnam Law Day, teacher Nguyen Thanh Huyen, Principal of Thanh Xuan Secondary School, expressed that each cadre, teacher and staff member of Thanh Xuan Secondary School always proactively research, learn, study and strictly comply with the Constitution and laws.
Strengthen the transmission of basic knowledge of law, build legal culture, create a foundation for students to become good citizens when they graduate. At the same time, always cultivate the ethics and qualities of teachers; study and follow the example of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style, so that "each teacher is an example of self-study and creativity"...
Student Nguyen Phuong Tue Anh, class 8A5, Thanh Xuan Secondary School, representing students of Thanh Xuan district, expressed her determination to comply with legal regulations right from her school days.
“Myself and other students of Thanh Xuan Secondary School have realized the great significance of Law Day. This is an opportunity for us to gain knowledge about the law, understand the role of the law in life; help us raise our awareness of strictly obeying the law, know how to prevent and not let violations of the law happen”, student Nguyen Phuong Tue Anh shared.
