The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has just launched a preferential loan program for students, master's students, and researchers in science , technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The loan program is implemented by the bank according to Decision 29/2025/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on credit for students, master's students, and researchers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other study expenses during their studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Customers eligible for loans are students, master's students, and researchers in specific fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics such as life sciences, natural sciences; computers and information technology; financial technology; and other key technology training fields as prescribed.

Maximum loan amount to cover tuition, living expenses and other study expenses (maximum VND 5 million/month).
Specifically, customers borrowing up to 500 million VND/student do not have to provide collateral to repay the loan. If customers borrow more than 500 million VND/student, they must provide collateral to repay the loan in accordance with the law.
The lending interest rate is 4.8%/year. Overdue interest is calculated at 130% of the lending interest rate.
"The Social Policy Bank provides loans through households. The representative of the student's household is the person who takes out the loan and transacts with the bank. In case the household has no members aged 18 or older or the remaining members are unable to work or do not have full civil capacity according to the law, the student will directly take out the loan at the bank" - informed the representative of the Social Policy Bank.
