Vietnamese students achieved the highest results ever at the International Science and Technology Competition - Photo: MOET
According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training on May 17, the Vietnamese student delegation made history at the International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF 2025), which took place from May 11 to 16 in Columbus, Ohio, USA, when they achieved the highest achievement ever, with 2 second prizes, 1 third prize, 3 fourth prizes and 4 special prizes from sponsors.
This year’s competition attracted nearly 1,700 high school students from more than 60 countries, territories and 48 US states, with more than 1,000 projects in 22 fields. The Vietnamese delegation participated with 9 projects in 6 fields, competing for a total of about 25% of the total number of projects in the competition.
The two second prize winning projects include: "TalkieVBot - Robot supporting education for children with language disabilities" by Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang Department of Education and Training), in the field of robots and smart machines; "High-performance lithium vanadium oxide oxidizing material for environmental treatment" by Do Ha Phuong and Nguyen Duc Thai (Viet Duc High School, Hanoi Department of Education and Training), in the field of chemistry.
Third prize went to the project of Pham Quang Phuc An and Nguyen Mai Khue (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) in the field of biomedical engineering with the topic "Developing a solution to support the assessment of male reproductive health at home".
The three fourth prize projects are: "Research on creating antibodies to neutralize Bolutinum Type A toxin based on Nanobody technology" by Dang Tran Bao Anh and Mai Tam Trang (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi); "Self-propelled wheelchair to support people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in moving and communicating" by Le Minh Hieu and Cao Trung Quan (Quang Tri Town High School, Quang Tri Department of Education and Training); "Application of deep learning in automatic music composition, orientation for preserving and developing Southern amateur music" by Ha Nhat Bao and Nguyen Tan Duc (Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training).
In addition, the Vietnamese delegation also won four special prizes awarded by sponsors (companies, corporations, and research centers) to projects with great potential and prospects.
The awarded projects include: Project "Developing solutions to support the assessment of male reproductive health at home" by Pham Quang Phuc An and Nguyen Mai Khue, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (2 awards); project "Research on creating antibodies to neutralize Botulinum toxin type A based on Nanobody technology" by Dang Tran Bao Anh and Mai Tam Trang (High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and project "High-performance lithium vanadium oxide oxidizing material for environmental treatment" by Do Ha Phuong and Nguyen Duc Thai (Viet Duc High School, Hanoi Department of Education and Training).
This is the highest result of Vietnamese students at Regeneron ISEF 2025 since participating in 2013, reflecting the team's continuous efforts and the strong integration of Vietnamese education with the world.
This achievement contributes to enhancing the position of Vietnamese education in the international arena, while realizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
