On the day of enrollment at Van Hien University, besides the youthful faces, the image of a new student with silver hair attracted attention. That was Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Hoang (62 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City), who had just completed the procedures to become a student of Chinese Language, majoring in Translation and Interpretation.

According to Ms. Hoang, the reason she chose to major in Chinese Language came from her visits to pagodas. When she saw Buddhist scriptures and parallel sentences written in Chinese characters, she always longed to understand them more deeply.

This constantly urged Ms. Hoang to study on her own, but the results were not as expected. Therefore, she decided to go to university to receive more in-depth and systematic training. Van Hien University is close to where she lives, convenient for commuting, so she considered this a suitable choice.

So, despite having a university degree in Food Chemistry, Ms. Hoang still decided to start over with a completely new major. "The older I get, the worse my memory gets. I want to find a way to train my brain and keep my mind sharp. For me, learning a new subject is both a challenge and a joy," said the 62-year-old freshman.

Ms. Hoang herself always takes to heart the teaching “Study, study more, study forever”. For her, studying is not only to get a degree but also to nurture her spirit, help herself stay young and live a more positive life.

At the age of 62, this special freshman believes that knowledge is everywhere, not only in books, but also in experiences, in people and in daily life. As long as there is opportunity, there is still learning, because knowledge helps broaden vision and enrich life.

On the day of admission at Van Hien University, the image of a silver-haired freshman diligently filling out the admission form became an affectionate image, like a vivid lesson about perseverance.

For many young students, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Hoang is not only a special classmate, but also a living example of perseverance and lifelong learning.
