Full range of emotions: joy, horror, anxiety, excitement
Anh Hong ( Tay Ninh ) burst into happiness when she received the notice that she met the requirements to be admitted to her 7th choice, information technology, from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry yesterday afternoon.
The female student is one of hundreds of candidates who "wrongly failed" due to a technical problem at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and is being re-admitted.
“Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry said that if I agreed to study at the school, they would guide me through the admission confirmation procedure. Receiving this news, I was happier than if I had passed my first choice,” Hong shared.
The female student said that for nearly a week she has been living in extreme confusion and anxiety.

Many candidates experienced anxiety while waiting for the results of the virtual filtering problem that caused them to "unfairly fail" despite high benchmark scores (Illustration: Hai Long).
After the universities announced the admission results on August 22, Hong looked up the system of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and was surprised to be informed that she was eligible for admission even though she only scored 24.25 points in group A00, below the standard score.
“I was both happy and worried because I didn’t understand why I was admitted. I thought that this year, candidates didn’t need to register for a combination, but the system would automatically choose the group with the highest score, so I might be able to change the method or combination without knowing it,” Hong shared. However, the female student did not dare to inform her family.
During the period from August 22 to 25, she continuously accessed the Ministry of Education and Training 's Admissions System to look up the final official results.
"I waited a long time to look it up, but the moment I saw all my rejected wishes, my eyes darkened. That day was terrible for me," the girl from Tay Ninh said.
All day, Hong cried and refused to eat. She was shocked because she did not understand why her grades were not low but she failed all her wishes. She thought about the prospect that she would be the only student in her high school who failed the university entrance exam.
After that, Anh Hong saw many candidates reporting similar situations so she felt less panicked.
Like Anh Hong, Le Thu Tra (Ha Tinh) also experienced that dark feeling at the age of 18. Although yesterday, her hometown experienced heavy rain and storms, with waves sometimes there and sometimes not, the phone call from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics seemed to bring a ray of sunshine after days of restlessness.
Tra said that at 5:00 p.m. yesterday, the school representative said that they had received her application transferred from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in her first choice and were considering her admission score in her second choice. Before that, Tra calculated that her score was higher than the school's standard score.
“I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Since the 25th, I have been living in a state of anxiety. Last night, I went to bed shaking because I was afraid that every time I closed my eyes, 1,000 negative things would appear in my head,” Tra shared.
Although Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics said they had to review the scores, Tra's emotions were much more stable.
"At least I know that I will continue to be considered for lower choices," the female student from Ha Tinh shared.
Tra added: "This is the first shock in my life that I will probably never forget."
Le Thu Tra's high school graduation exam score is 24.75 in group A00. Tra's first choice is Primary Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, with a standard score of 25.94.
The female student's score could have been accepted into the lower choices at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. However, the previous days, the school announced that the candidate had not been admitted because she had already been accepted into the first choice.
When looking up the Ministry's admission system, the candidate received the result that all of his/her wishes were rejected. Many other candidates also faced the same situation as Tra.
According to Dan Tri reporters, many candidates are being contacted by universities for support, but this number is mainly focused on non-pedagogical groups.
For the pedagogical groups, some candidates were informed by the school that they still had to wait after the official admission period of the first round, because the school was still checking the quota. The pedagogical group will be more difficult to resolve because the school had previously called for enough quota and ensured to build a budget for free tuition and support living expenses of 3.6 million/month for this group.
According to private information, there are schools that accept more than 32 students, mainly in the field of education.
Ensuring the rights of candidates "passing becomes failing, failing becomes passing"
Not as lucky as those who have basic information about which school they were admitted to, AH (Dong Nai) said he got 26.5 points in block C00. He placed his first choice at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, but did not pass.
If true, the female student will be admitted to Dong Nai University, but when I asked, the school replied that they could not find the candidate's information.
“I asked all the schools but they still haven’t found the cause. I don’t know where I am. I’m writing a petition to the Ministry of Education and Training to ask for reconsideration,” H. said.

According to information from Ho Chi Minh City Open University, the school has added 18 candidates from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education to the list of first-round successful candidates.
According to the school, candidates whose names are on the above list will complete admission procedures from 2:00 p.m. on August 26, without needing to confirm admission on the Ministry of Education and Training's information portal.
In addition to the case of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, some schools are also quickly handling and accepting cases where candidates are admitted but the system reports that they have failed.
A university said it had received a dispatch from Foreign Trade University to deal with some candidates who got the wrong benchmark scores.
The University of Commerce has resolved more than 10 cases of similar problems. All students had enough points to pass the entrance exam but were admitted to other schools ranked lower.
A representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education said the error was due to technical operations. The school has sent a document requesting the Ministry of Education and Training to create conditions for candidates to continue the admission process and requested support from related universities.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has worked with each university and initially received very positive cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, resolving errors is the responsibility of the schools. If necessary, the Ministry will support, guide and direct other universities to coordinate in handling the situation.
After listening to feedback on major errors of a number of higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training has promptly directed and guided, and so far most of the errors have been resolved in accordance with regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirms that all qualified candidates will definitely be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time.
