BHG - On the morning of May 16, in Ha Giang city, a meeting took place between the delegation of the Veterinary Research Institute of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Giang province (Vietnam). The delegation was led by Mr. Nghiem Minh, Deputy Director of the Veterinary Research Institute of Guangxi province. Welcoming and participating in the meeting with the delegation were Mr. Trinh Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment; leaders and officers of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries of the province.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Van Binh gave an overview of solutions for livestock development, disease prevention and control, and orientation work for businesses, agricultural import and export in Ha Giang. He emphasized: In the period of 2020 - 2025, Ha Giang's average economic growth rate is estimated at 6%; the economic structure of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector currently accounts for 28%. The agricultural sector has positive changes, the internal structure has shifted to the livestock sector; in 2024, the proportion will reach 36.14%. Regarding epidemics, in the period of 2021 - 2024, there were a number of outbreaks of avian influenza and lumpy skin disease in buffaloes and cows. The functional sectors and localities have resolutely controlled and supported vaccination for livestock farmers...

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Guangxi Provincial Veterinary Research Institute Nghiem Minh affirmed: Continuing the friendly neighborly relationship between the two provinces, the meeting will strengthen cooperation activities to develop sustainable livestock and veterinary medicine in the two localities. He gave an overview of the livestock situation in Guangxi province, the current status of important animal disease prevention experimental stations that have been built. At the same time, he shared about the cooperation in cross-border animal disease prevention and control between Guangxi province and Ha Giang province. He proposed some cooperation contents between the two provinces in the coming time such as: Cooperation to improve cross-border livestock disease prevention and control capacity; building a large-scale border disease prevention experimental station in Ha Giang; building a disease-safe model facility.

At the meeting, delegates shared about the work of disease prevention and control in border areas. At the same time, they contributed their opinions to the draft Agreement on cooperation on prevention and control of cross-border animal diseases between the Veterinary Research Institute of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and 4 border provinces of Vietnam. Thereby, Ha Giang province basically agreed with the objectives and cooperation content of the agreement and proposed to consider organizing a bilateral signing between the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Giang and the Institute.
