On the evening of August 6, at the Tra Vinh Provincial Convention Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Tra Vinh Province to organize the opening ceremony of the 19th "Singing and dating of 9 rivers" Festival in 2024. The festival is a cultural and artistic activity held every 2 years, rotating in the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta region.

With the theme “Convergence of the Nine Dragons Land”, this festival with special art programs aims to praise the leadership of the Party, Uncle Ho, the love for the homeland, the patriotic tradition of our people, the solidarity of the Vietnamese ethnic groups; achievements in the cause of building and developing the homeland and the country. Besides, it contributes to honoring and introducing the typical features, traditional cultural values, rich in identity of the provinces and cities in the region in particular and the whole country in general.
Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee spoke at the opening ceremony.
In his opening speech, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that as a locality honored to be selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate in hosting this year's Festival, Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee has directed the Departments and branches in the province to prepare well the contents and favorable conditions to organize the Festival with the desire to achieve the best results. The Festival aims to spread UNESCO's recognition of the traditional cultural values of the nation; at the same time, promote and introduce the image of people and culture of Tra Vinh province in particular and the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in general to friends across the country. This is also an opportunity for artists, artisans, actors, musicians, etc. to exchange, learn, and develop expertise in editing, staging and performing art programs. Thereby, contributing to orienting local cultural and artistic activities, preserving and promoting unique traditional art forms of the region.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented souvenir flags to the units participating in the Festival.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 9 Rivers Dating Singing Festival is a regional cultural event, celebrating the country's anniversaries in 2024, especially the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Director of Tra Vinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers to welcome the units participating in the Festival.
The festival is part of a series of events organized by Tra Vinh province in 2024 such as: Fundraising campaign to build a memorial site for the late Composer - People's Artist Vien Chau, 100th Anniversary of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and Vu Lan Week of Cau Ke district in 2024, Cultural and Tourism Week associated with Ok Om Bok Festival and especially celebrating the event of Tra Vinh province completing the task of building new rural areas.

This year's festival brings together 14 art troupes with more than 600 actors, artists, and musicians from 13 provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta and Can Tho University. The festival takes place from August 6-9 at the Tra Vinh Provincial Convention Center.
