According to Al Jazeera on September 11, in a statement unanimously agreed by all 15 members, including Israel's ally the US, the United Nations Security Council condemned Israel's attack on Doha on September 9, and called for a de-escalation of regional tensions.

"The members of the Security Council stressed the importance of de-escalating tensions and expressed solidarity with Qatar," the statement, drafted by France and Britain, said.

The statement also stressed that the release of the (Israeli) hostages and an end to the conflict in Gaza were "top priorities." More than 40 people are still being held by Hamas in Gaza, but only 20 are believed to be alive.

The Security Council statement came ahead of an emergency meeting on September 11, called to discuss Israel's raid on Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital as Tel Aviv intensified its attacks on Gaza City.

The raid killed five Hamas members but their senior commanders survived. A member of the Qatari security forces was also killed in the September 9 Israeli attack, which escalated tensions in the region.

The United States, an ally of Israel, also issued strong criticism of Israel, reflecting President Donald Trump's "displeasure" with the attack.
