The photos were taken in Dien Bien and submitted to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications . 
The transition from winter to spring is perhaps the most beautiful moment in nature. While the winter winds still linger on the dry, old trees, the first rays of spring sunshine begin to appear on the horizon. Spring is also the most beautiful season in Northwest Vietnam! With the arrival of spring, Northwest Vietnam dons a vibrant new coat, like a silken ribbon of pink, making this already majestic mountainous region incredibly soft and gentle. Along with the blooming flowers, Northwest Vietnam is also famous for its festivals steeped in ethnic identity. Each festival has its own unique characteristics, but all are held to thank the deities who govern the mountains, forests, and rivers, and to pray for bountiful harvests, favorable weather, good health, prosperity, and abundance for the people. In the highlands, girls in their colorful spring festivities descend to the market. The sound of the flute calls out to friends, laughter rings out. Their dark eyes gleam with the intoxicating scent of pa pao fruit. They gather in groups of five or three, spinning tops and running around like pigs. "Oh, oh!" cries of joy fill the air as horns of cows and goats clash. Branches of verdant leaves and fragrant flowers cover the rocky mountains. The flute and pipe play a melodious tune, imbued with the blue hues of the evening.
In 2024, the "Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, will continue to be held on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive informational products that make practical contributions to promoting a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world . Through this, it helps people at home, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends access authentic images of Vietnam, its people, and its achievements in ensuring human rights, moving towards a happy Vietnam. Each competition category (photos and videos) has the following prizes and prize values: – 1 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND – 2 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND – 3 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND – 10 Consolation Prizes: 5,000,000 VND – 1 Most Voted entry: 5,000,000 VND.
