Over 1,000 schools damaged after Typhoon No. 10

TPO - According to preliminary statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, after typhoon No. 10, more than 1,000 schools in Hue City, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa were severely affected.

The Ministry of Education and Training has released a report on the consequences of Typhoon No. 10 on schools in various provinces and cities.

Fortunately, there were no casualties in the affected areas, but infrastructure and schools in many places suffered significant damage.

In Ha Tinh province, the Department of Education and Training reported that 412 educational institutions have been affected so far, with total estimated damages of approximately 430 billion VND. Of these, preschools, primary schools, and secondary schools have been most severely impacted.

Following the storm's devastation, many schools were left in ruins and require time for repairs and restoration. The education sector in Ha Tinh province decided to temporarily suspend classes to ensure the safety of the students, and as of now, schools have not reopened.

In Nghe An province , the Department of Education and Training has reviewed and reported that 483 schools at all levels were affected, with total damages estimated at approximately 300 billion VND. This includes 123 kindergartens, 130 primary schools, 122 secondary schools, and 108 high schools. The storms also disrupted teaching and learning activities in the area.

The city of Hue also had 134 schools severely affected by Typhoon No. 10. The estimated total damage to infrastructure in the area is over 1.1 billion VND. Schools in Hue city have resumed normal classes, with only 29 schools/school locations in low-lying areas experiencing flooding and remaining closed.

In addition, provinces such as Quang Tri and Thanh Hoa reported that the storms have caused damage to many schools, including roofs being blown off, fences collapsing, and trees falling. These localities are currently suspending classes to ensure students' safety.
