More than 481 billion VND to renovate and upgrade provincial road 291

BAC GIANG - The People's Committee of Bac Giang province has just issued a decision approving the investment policy for the project to renovate and upgrade provincial road 291 (section from Km16+980 - Km25).

Accordingly, in the 2025-2028 period, Bac Giang province will invest more than 481 billion VND from the provincial budget to renovate and upgrade the main route of Provincial Road 291 and the branch route connecting to Provincial Road 293.

Provincial Road 291 passes through Tay Yen Tu town (Son Dong).

The main route of Provincial Road 291 has been renovated and upgraded with a total length of about 8 km, starting at the intersection with Provincial Road 293 in Tay Yen Tu town (Son Dong); ending at Km25+00 in Dong Ri residential area, Tay Yen Tu town. This route is invested according to the scale of level III mountainous area with a roadbed width of 9 m, road surface width of 8 m; construction of an intersection with Provincial Road 293 ensures synchronous connection.

The branch line connecting the main route of Provincial Road 291 with Provincial Road 293 is about 1.3 km long; the starting point is at Km0+00 intersecting with Provincial Road 293 at Km71+950 in Tay Yen Tu town; the end point is at Km1+300 intersecting with Provincial Road 291 at Km17+810 of Provincial Road 291. The roadbed is 16 m wide, the road surface is 15 m wide.

The invested items of the main and branch routes include: Roadbed, road surface, drainage system, traffic safety, etc.

According to the authorities, Provincial Road 291 has a total length of about 27.4 km, of which the section from Yen Dinh commune to Tay Yen Tu town (km0+00 - Km17+980) has been upgraded to grade III mountainous standards and put into use in early 2024. However, the section from Km16+980 (Tay Yen Tu town) to Km25 (Son Dong Thermal Power Plant) is still a grade IV mountainous road, not meeting the needs of travel and economic development.

Faced with that reality, the project was built to gradually complete the planned traffic infrastructure; improve travel conditions, enhance transport capacity, strengthen regional and inter-provincial traffic connections to facilitate trade between Bac Giang and Quang Ninh provinces. At the same time, strengthen national defense, maintain security; create favorable conditions for socio-economic development; promote tourism linkages in Yen Tu region.
