More than 76,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City complete procedures for 10th grade entrance exam in 2025

On June 5, more than 76,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City completed procedures to take the 10th grade public school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, at 142 testing locations.

According to VTC News Electronic Newspaper, although the exam procedures only started at 9:30, the candidates arrived quite early.

At the exam site of Vo Truong Toan Secondary School, District 1, candidates were brought early by their parents. They took the opportunity to look at the exam room map and registration numbers.

Most of the students, when asked, expressed confidence before the important exam. Lam Bao Duy, a student at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School, said: "I'm a bit nervous because this is a very important exam. I was worried last night, but this morning when I went to the exam site to meet my friends, we encouraged each other to try our best, so I felt much more relieved. I have reviewed carefully and am ready, hoping to do really well on the test."

Gia Han, a student at Tran Van On Secondary School, District 1, said: “The 10th grade exam is the first important milestone, so I am a bit nervous. It feels like I am about to enter a new phase. These past few days, I have been taking the time to review my knowledge and organize the important parts.”

Mr. Nguyen Duy Tam - Vice Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School, Head of the examination site - informed that the examination site has 721 candidates with 31 examination rooms. The candidate storage area is arranged on the ground floor, the examination rooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floors, ensuring the correct safety distance of over 25m as prescribed. "We have thoroughly instructed the examination invigilators to follow the regulations, not to arbitrarily handle any arising situations but to report to the head of the examination site. The goal is to ensure maximum benefits for candidates", said Mr. Tam.

The 10th grade public school entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2026 school year took place on June 6 and 7, with 76,435 candidates registering to take the exam - a decrease of more than 27,000 compared to last year.

Ho Chi Minh City arranged 142 examination sites (132 regular sites, 10 specialized sites) with 3,277 examination rooms. The whole industry mobilized 9,548 teachers to invigilate the exams and 1,846 support staff.

Candidates will take three subjects including Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language. Candidates applying to specialized schools and integrated classes will take an additional specialized or integrated subject (150 minutes). The estimated exam marking time is from June 8 to 25. The exam scores, benchmark scores and review time will be announced later by the Department of Education and Training, based on the actual marking progress and processing of results.
