90.2% of parents surveyed in Ho Chi Minh City expressed satisfaction with public education services, lower than last year (90.78%).

On September 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of a survey measuring public satisfaction with public education services in the city in 2023.

600 high school students and over 6,400 parents from preschool to high school were randomly selected from 36 schools in District 3, Tan Phu District, and Cu Chi District to participate in the survey. District 3 was identified as a high-development group, Tan Phu as a developed group, and Cu Chi as a medium-development group.

Parents of high school students received survey forms in person. Parents of other grades surveyed online. The measurement criteria included access to education; facilities and teaching equipment; educational environment; educational activities; and the development and fulfillment of civic duties by students.

As a result, the overall satisfaction rate of parents with public education services in 2023 was 90.2%, meeting the target set by the Department of Education and Training, but lower than last year (90.78%). Of this, the highest satisfaction rate was regarding educational activities (91%), while the lowest was regarding facilities and teaching equipment (89.4%).

The levels of parental satisfaction with public education services are as follows:

Facilities and teaching equipment 89.4
Educational environment 90.6

When broken down by educational level, parental satisfaction rates gradually decrease from preschool to high school. Specifically, over 96% of preschool parents are satisfied with public school education – the highest rate, while high school parents have the lowest satisfaction rate – only 84.27%.

If calculated on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 is very dissatisfied; 2 is dissatisfied, 3 is neutral, 4 is satisfied, and 5 is very satisfied), the overall satisfaction score (average score) of parents this year is 4.51, higher than 4.48 in 2022. For students, the overall satisfaction score is 4.53, higher than 4.37 in 2022.

In the five public education services surveyed, student satisfaction scores were higher than parental satisfaction scores, all achieving 4 points or more. The Department of Education and Training stated that the overall satisfaction scores of parents and students with public education services, based on all criteria, were higher than last year.

"This partly demonstrates that the public education services of schools in the area have met the learning needs of students and the expectations of parents," the Department stated.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of the aforementioned survey in 2021. According to the Department, the survey helps schools in the area identify the needs and aspirations of parents and students in order to implement measures to improve the quality of service and customer satisfaction.
