Director of Kien Giang Provincial Post Office Nguyen Van Luu said that although the name and organizational structure have changed many times, the postal industry is still basically unified in its functions and tasks, which are to ensure information and communication to serve the leadership of the Party and authorities at all levels, and to serve the people's needs for postal, telecommunications, and information technology.
With its contributions during the renovation period, the postal sector is considered by the Party and State to be a leading sector in the renovation cause and has been honored by the State with the Labor Medal, Independence Medal, Exploit Medal, and Ho Chi Minh Medal.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Luu Trung said that in Kien Giang province, during the renovation period of 1993-2000, the Provincial Post Office pioneered in implementing a breakthrough innovation policy with the decision "Going straight to modern technology, digitalization, multi-services", accelerating development and modernization.
As a result, the postal network has been expanded, shortening the service radius, ensuring timely direction and administration of the Party and State, socio-economic development and information needs of the people; the telecommunications network has been digitized, fully automated, and the market has developed rapidly.
Many new services are provided to society, service areas are expanded, annual revenue grows from 40% to 50%, contributing significantly to the process of building and developing the province in particular and the country in general.
