In a speech at an event marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, Wang said cooperation was “the most correct choice for China and the United States to get along,” according to Reuters. “It can be said that China-US cooperation is no longer a choice for the two countries and even the world, but a must that must be seriously addressed,” Wang stressed.
Mr. Wang also emphasized: "We are willing to commit to building a stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relationship on the basis of mutual respect." He affirmed: "We have no intention of replacing anyone, dominating anyone, and have no intention of seeking hegemony."
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi speaks at a reception marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-US diplomatic relations in Beijing on January 5.
According to Mr. Vuong, although both countries are built on different foundations, differences should not lead to confrontation and sanctions should not be used at all times to exercise power or hegemony.
"We must resolutely coexist peacefully and the most important thing is to effectively resolve differences," Wang said, according to Reuters.
Previously, Xinhua News Agency reported on January 1 that Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Chinese president said the two sides should "take practical actions to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-US relations."
According to the South China Morning Post citing information released by Beijing, President Biden said that since the establishment of bilateral relations in 1979, the relationship between the US and China has promoted prosperity and opportunity for the US, China and the world.
