Providing treatment opportunities for underprivileged children.
As part of its annual international cooperation program, Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital recently welcomed a delegation of medical experts from Italy, representing the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP). This activity further affirms the cooperative relationship between the two sides in supporting healthcare for children with genitourinary malformations in the Central and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam.
Dr. Tran Dinh Vinh, Director of Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, affirmed: "This collaboration contributes to providing treatment opportunities for many underprivileged children; as well as opening up important avenues for development in training and improving the professional skills of the hospital's medical staff."
During their stay in Da Nang, the Italian expert team, in collaboration with doctors from the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, conducted screening and in-depth consultations for 50 children with urinary and genital malformations; they also performed reconstructive surgery on 18 cases, helping the children integrate into the community and have a complete childhood.
“Italian experts directly performed the surgeries, meticulously guiding the doctors through each technical step right at the operating table. Thanks to this ‘hands-on’ model, the hospital’s medical team had the opportunity to access advanced techniques, thereby improving their professional capabilities and increasing their proactive approach in treating complex cases,” added Dr. Tran Dinh Vinh.
Besides surgical activities, the two sides also discussed future cooperation directions. Many important plans were proposed, including strengthening specialized training programs in Italy, expanding the range of transferable techniques, and implementing annual humanitarian medical examinations and surgeries; providing better treatment opportunities for disadvantaged children in the Central and Central Highlands regions.
With clear development directions and the results achieved in the collaborative program, the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital continues to aim to become the leading specialized unit in the Central region in the field of genitourinary malformation surgery.
Improving maternal and pediatric care.

In addition, it provides specialized treatment for complex conditions such as cerebral palsy and motor problems, opening up opportunities for better rehabilitation and integration for children; and childhood respiratory illnesses, helping them breathe fresh and healthy air.
The Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital also collaborates with leading medical and training institutions in the United States to organize the 2025 International Obstetrics and Gynecology Conference. Medical experts from prestigious institutes and universities worldwide also provide technical and professional training for doctors and medical staff at the Da Nang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, including: Mayo Clinic in obstetric emergency care and pediatric resuscitation; UTMB in prenatal diagnosis and gynecological oncology; Yonsei University in South Korea in pediatric dentistry; and IPSAC in pediatric surgery…
