Huawei Unveils Nova 12 Series With 5G and Satellite Communications Support

According to Technewsspaces , the Huawei Nova 12 is equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,412 x 1,084 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and support for backlight control (PWM) at a frequency of 1,440 Hz. Meanwhile, the Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra have a 6.76-inch OLED screen with rounded edges, a resolution of 2,776 x 1,224 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz, and PWM at a frequency of 2,160 Hz. The panels are protected from scratches by Huawei's own second-generation Kunlun glass.

The Nova 12 has a dual main camera with a 50 MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and RYYB color filter, combined with an 8 MP sensor with a wide-angle lens for macro photography (f/2.4). Users can take selfies with a 60 MP front camera with a wide-angle f/2.4 aperture.

The Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra also feature dual rear cameras. The main module is based on a 50 MP sensor and has a variable aperture of f/1.4 - f/4.0 with an RYYB color filter. It is joined by an f/2.2 wide-angle camera with an 8 MP sensor and supports macro photography. On the front is a 60 MP wide-angle camera (f/2.4) with autofocus and an 8 MP sensor for close-up portraits (f/2.2) with 2x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. In addition, both models are equipped with a new generation facial recognition system.

Color options on Nova 12 Series

All Nova 12 members come with Kirin chips with built-in 5G modems. Huawei did not say which chips will be used in them, but according to sources, the Nova 12 Pro is equipped with the Kirin 8000 5G chip and the Nova 12 Ultra is equipped with the Kirin 9000SL chip. The Nova 12 Ultra model is also said to support two-way text messaging technology via satellite. All three models have 4,600 mAh batteries with 100W fast charging support and run on the HarmonyOS 4.0 platform.

Finally, the Nova 12's pricing starts at $420 for the 8/256GB model, while the Nova 12 Pro starts at $560 for the 12/256GB model and the Nova 12 Ultra starts at $658 for the 12/512GB model.
